So sounds like the most she did was text the victim to lure him to a place where the actual killer who thought up the whole thing murdered him. Her 16yo half-brother who was the one who confessed everything to the police and turned them in also got a life sentence.

Man, Florida is ultra harsh. I've heard of school shooters getting less.

If you are an accessory to or knowingly participate in -any- capacity of the murder of somebody, you deserve life in prison, without exception, without release.

Nah, it was well deserved. The story behind this case is fucked.

Ringleader got death, the rest of them got life aside from the step dad (Who had mental issues so he couldn't be held legally responsible) and the owner of the house who originally got life, but then lawyered up hard with Jose Baez (AKA Casey Anthony's lawyer) so she got released after 10 years.

She set up her teenage boyfriend who was like 15. To be beat up,brutalized, burned to death, and dumped somewhere by a bunch of adults. Not a surprise, of course somebody here has to be against justice prevailing for once

It was her and the actual murderer's idea.

She originally dated the victim, they went through a messy break up, started dating the killer and they all planned it as a group.

The only real debate was if the participants knew that the main guy planned to shoot him, but considering two of the guys were beating him with 2x4's, they didn't exactly have a stellar defense. Her brother and the Hispanic guy maintain that they thought they were just going to rough him up, but I don't really buy it.

I mean, if a good lawyer was able to get the owner of the house off surely there was some merit to the sentences being excessively harsh. Apparently sentencing minors to life imprisonment was actually ruled unconstitutional after this but the floridian judge still doubled down on it. I just think they wouldn't have gotten life in any blue state or any other developed country (hell, Japan is pretty well known for being harsh on criminals and even they have policies that are more lenient on minors).
I'd love to be proven wrong with examples. The Sylvia Likens case had all the minors only getting several years for it.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure both Texas and Florida have the rule that if you participate in a crime where someone gets whacked, you're just as liable as the shooter.

They weren't really minors though except for the victim and the ginger siblings.

Murderer, two of the accomplices and the homeowner were all legal adults.

I don't really like Piers Morgan, but if you have any doubt of this girls guilt, go watch his interview with her. She's cold af, and Piers has said that he found her legit disturbing just how nonchalant she was talking about it.

Yeah, I'm talking about the ginger siblings. Her brother who was 16 was the one who basically turned himself in and confessed to everything and still got life. The legal adult homeowner was actually one that just got 10 years.
Also, when was this interview taken place? Because of course spending years in prison would make someone cold af. That's kind of the whole thing about US's poor justice system.

Was two years after the murder, so before she even got resentenced.

I could maybe see the brother getting off if his family gets him a good lawyer, but the sister is cooked. She lured him to the house knowing full well that he was going to at the very least get beaten to within an inch of his life. It would take bringing Johnnie Cochran back from the grave to give her even the slimmest hope.

Still, the fact that they all got initially sentenced for life is insanely harsh. I was watching that video and was surprised to see all of them get life at the end. I was expecting around 25-40 years for the accomplices, less for the minors, and life/DP for the actual killer, which it usually is in the crimes that take place in other states. This is definitely more of a Florida thing.

Even as he confessed he was only worried about himself and said the dude they murdered deserved it. These people lured somebdy with the intent to murder him. The kid you're talking about beat the guy over the head with a stick so the other guy could shoot him. They stuck him in a bathtub and broke his legs so he would be easier to move, and then burned him with tires to hide the smell of burning flesh.

And he clearly felt incredibly guilty about it. The entire reason minors are under different laws is because of the lack of brain rationality they have compared to adults. That said, I know you're a pretty hardcore right-winger, most of the people itt have been so I guess this is just a matter of inherent differing beliefs that can't really be changed, similar to whether one believes fetuses are people or not.
I am kind of curious why a lot of the hardcore anti-death penalty/rehabilitation folks rarely show up in these topics. I suppose it is easier to preach beliefs when there isn't a direct incident that could strike emotion being the subject. Although tbf most of you don't show up in those topics either.

This. Theres a reason almost everyone in this case got life or a death sentence. The story behind it is fucked up, and everyone involved save the step dad knew something was going to go down at that house that day.

The only reason the homeowner is walking amongst us today is because she didnt participate in the actual beating and got a celebrity lawyer.

Saw this on TV a while back. At the time, bitch gave no fucks beyond tryna lie, downplay her role, play the victim of being under someone else's kontrol, and when it was klear she's not getting out of it, worry about her image when this gets out. Truth turned out to be the muder was her new boyfriend's idea and she only got with him because he and the victim seriously hated each other, and after the victim broke up with her, she wanted to hurt him.

i recently watched the interrogations of these people
she is super sad because she will probably be 20 when she gets out of prison
i think she already turned 27 in prison

the one guy said he wanted to kill him
so she phoned him and lured him to the house knowing he was going to be murdered
the 2 guys beat him with boards
the other guy shot him

so they all got life
the homeowner who was the 18 year old woman initially got life as well but since she was the only one who didnt have an active part in murdering him she was able to get released after 10 years but she was there the whole time and knew they were about to murder this kid

Parents are failing their kids more than ever it seems. When I was this age I was thinking about just getting decent grades in school, hanging out with my friends and playing video games. Now it's all about "clout", street cred, tiktok views and who can stoop lowest and commit the craziest or worst crimes while they are still a minor. Parents and the law need to do better.

Not sure why you're trying to downplay that the girl helped murder someone. She knew exactly what she was doing. "She was too young and lacked brain rationality." Nah, teens are old enough to know not to kill each other or to help others to kill.
