...even if the person they are calling right-wing has never voted for a republican president?
Or call somebody MAGA even if they've vocally said they don't like/support Trump?
Like, isn't that so overtly false that it doesn't make sense to even say? Or is it just trolling?

This is a genuine question because I'm confused by this. I don't intend to engage in any back-and-forth in this topic, I just wanted to hear people's thoughts on this phenomenon.

If someone regurgitates right wing talking points and conspiracies all the time, I don't really give a fuck who they vote for. Either way they're being a useful tool for the hate machine to keep spreading misinformation and hysteria. That, to me, is the essence of a right winger.

I think some posters need to score fake points against imaginary enemies because they need something fulfilling in their lives and its the closest they can get. Ineffectual keyboard warriors trying to convince themselves that theyre making the world better without actually doing anything.

Peoples definition of right wing are different, TC.

Theres also this concept of if you are right leaning on a specific issue, then you are viewed as right wing overall.

JK Rowling is a decent example. For the most part, she is fairly liberal to my understanding. She is not very liberal with Trans things though. Thus, shes right-wing by default.

The right does it with the left too. Like that one interview Ben Shapiro had with that BBC host. People, in general, dislike thinking. Enemy or ally is about how far they are willing to mentally engage. In other words:
