Well?

Assuming the person is heterosexual, do you count someone who's a straight, but is a drag queen a lgbt+ person?

i mean, i can understand why people would say no, but the bigots aren't really making any distinctions about who they're trying to eradicate. so, i say the question doesn't really matter right now, we're in the same fight.

Without putting much thought into it no. A draq queen is something kinda like a actor. They act as a parody or caricature of women. At least traditionally. This was more or less the explanation I got when I asked a friend who did drag the difference between drag and cross dressing cause I've cross dressed but I've never done drag.

I say yes, kind of? The history of drag is inextricably linked to LGBTQ+, so I'd say drag queens fall into the + part of that as people who play with gender expression

No, in the same way I don't count Eminem as a black man.

But I would consider them an ally. Providing they were involved in supporting/promoting LGBTQ+ drag queens and the culture.

Well, transvestite was a blanket term for drag queens, cross dressers, and transgender people. To many back in the day (i.e. the wider public) there was really no difference between these groups since there was almost no spotlight on them really to highlight the differences. So drag queens would fall under that label.

It's not really used anymore since we have more accurate terminology to describe and differentiate those groups

Pretty much this for me. It's a gender non-conforming act, so, I guess why not?

And yes, that would mean that all members of Monty Python and Kids in the Hall fall under this, but I think I could live with that.

A queen is another word for gay man. A drag queen is a queen in drag.

If you have a straight man in drag, that's just a transvestite.

It's a non identifying descriptive term. A man dressing in drag may be gay, cishet, NB, or something else entirely.

What part is confusing to you? Putting on a costume doesnt change or define somebodys sexuality or gender identity. Not when a woman plays Peter Pan, not when voice actors play characters that identify differently than the voice actor, and not when somebody does a drag performance.

This... is not how those terms work. A straight man in drag is still a drag queen. Maddy Morphosis (a well-known straight queen) is a drag queen. There are also MANY trans women who are drag queens.

EDIT: And let's not forget that there are lots of cis women drag queens too. Drag is a performance, an artistic expression. It's not a sexual/gender identity.
