I think the guards just love to tackle people. Everytime someone goes on the field, they get excited for the takedown. As I said before, this situation did not require that level of violence. If he was running around I woukd understand, but he was kneeling on the grass, totally peaceful

I agree that it was overkill for this specific instance, but I still think its warranted. Otherwise, you go down the path of needing to pinpoint specifically what someone must be doing to necessitate certain levels of action.

Best to keep it as a blanket item. You go onto the field, you can get laid out.

Normally I would agree if he was an active danger to the players. But he was simply on his knee proposing. Spearing him wasnt necessary. He still deserved to be arrested.

Yeah you're right. Peaceful people always describe to be tackled.

I'm in the minority here, but if you are security or police at an event like this, everything is treated as unpredictable. 99% certain he intended on doing nothing else, but if he gets on one knee, then jumps back up and charges the 3rd baseman while security isnt restraining him because in the moment, he isnt a threat, it becomes a massive problem. People are dumb and unpredictable, there is no way of knowing what someone is going to do in this scenario, even though assumption is logical that he just wanted to propose. That slight chance that he may do something else warrants the fast reaction imo. Don't go on the damn field.

Again though, if someone ran out on the field to stop a bomb, security would tackle the hero and doom the whole stadium

This was awesome, I was hoping he'd get tackled through I admit I'm a bit petty when it comes to public displays of affection like this.

That was probably the best day of that dudes life , laying that guy out in front of thousands of people. He's gonna be bragging about it for years, that yuppie folded like a paper sack

Nobody playing on the field, and nobody in the audience was scared. The only people freaking out were the guards. The players thought it was funny. They weren't afraid

But how is this different than literally restraining anyone else anywhere else? Are humans more predictable outside of a baseball field? Should cops not only be allowed, but encouraged to assault anyone they are apprehending, regardless of the specific situation, because "you never know what will happen next"?

If a hit is considered dangerous and unsafe for NFL players I would think it would also be the same for ballpark security and a fan.
