I have heard the movie is a very poor adaptation of the source material. I've read The Zombie Survival Guide, which was written first. It's just a bunch of in universe lore and advice for a zombie apocalypse. No storyline

Then the author wrote World War Z. I think the book is written as a series of short stories framed as survivors years after the event, being interviewed by a guy going all over the world, talking to people who lived through it

They should have made a tv show instead of a movie. Also, the zombies aren't supposed to run or climb walls or any shit like that. I am pretty sure in the book, they are like Walking Dead style zombies

It felt like the movie was:
-Something happens here so we leave here
-We cant stay here so we have to go there
-That thing wasnt here so we need to go there
-Uh oh we need to leave here now too
-Heres the last thing of the movie

Im sure that sounds dumb but it felt rough and disjointed.

I've heard that the audiobook version of World War Z is particularly good. The book is a series of interviews well after the zombie apocalypse has settled down. So I think it's narrated by multiple people to represent all the different characters retelling their experiences. I know Mark Hamill voices one of them too.

Zombies aren't that much of a threat, because they're dead.

And dead things rot. They also are cold-blooded, as in they do not generate their own internal body heat.

So if you go someplace tropical, the zombies will decompose within days. Or if you go someplace that regularly gets below the freezing point of water, you have a lot of zombiescles to smash.

Also if you go into a desert, the zombies will dry out into a dissicated corpse in a day or two.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zombie

A zombie (Haitian French: zombi, Haitian Creole: zonbi) is a mythological undead corporeal revenant created through the reanimation of a corpse. Zombies are most commonly found in horror and fantasy genre works. The term comes from Haitian folklore, in which a zombie is a dead body reanimated through various methods, most commonly magic like voodoo. Modern media depictions of the reanimation of the dead often do not involve magic but rather science fictional methods such as carriers, fungi, radiation, mental diseases, vectors, pathogens, parasites, scientific accidents, etc.

Just because the author of those books doesn't know what words mean... is no reason to forget what words mean.

The zombies in Zombie Survival Guide/World War Z do fit that definition though. Except for maybe the mythological part. I mean there's no doubt he took a lot of creative liberties regarding the actual scientific parts of it all though.

Then they are dead... and dead things rot. That's why zombies look the way they do, for their bodies are decaying and rotting.

That doesn't answer the question...do the books explain some strange way the zombies don't decompose or how their muscles are able to function? Is it like RE where they have some virus that boosts their regenerative properties or something?

It's already been mentioned by another person or two but the movie is WAY worse than the book. The movie itself isn't a terrible zombie movie if it wasn't called World War Z.

There is an unabridged audio that is something like 12 hours. If you have Audible use a credit on it. If you don't, it might be worth signing up for a trial and getting the free book and then cancelling.

You can't be serious, right? World War Z as a book was phenomenal. The pacing was well thought out. Each character was written in a different style and with different syntax. It was a cohesive story told throughout multiple POVs which is extremely hard to do.

Saying you didn't like the book is fine, but you objectively don't know literature if you think the book "weren't much better" than the movie.

There is a saying , something happened because the plot needed it to happen. Which means in the universe of the world. Things are not happening naturally and the only logical explanation for all these things happening is because the plot needed it to happen. And that is this movie squared. Coincidences out the pie hole. And I like product placement, it makes the world feel real. But here is was just too much.
