For realsies. I can accept that they cast a realistic crab as Sebastian instead of the lovable cartoony guy he's supposed to be, but desexualizing the king really shows how far Disney has fallen and given into Hollywood's agenda.

Sigh. We let them get away with adding more clothes onto characters in regional releases in games, and now they've taken the next step and covered up Triton's boobs entirely. It doesn't even make sense with the lore! They're underwater and need to be able to twist and move about freely in order to swim! The king's huge chesticles should be out and proud so he can effectively maneuver and defend his kingdom. >:[

I'd say the other way around if anything. Going for ultra-realism in ways that kill the spirit of a work is gonna bother me more than chucking a few extra clothes on someone.

Agreed actually. I do like the human casting and all, but the dreary realistic colors in some of the scenes and the regular-ass crab with no human expressions can't possibly work.

The jerks who think they have a gotcha moment because a male character got a downgrade are more obnoxious than the people who genuinely feel they've lost something in a game or movie.

It is concerning how prudish we've become. Male nipples aren't appropriate for a children's movie set in the water? This isn't like an illustrated movie where you can opt not to draw that detail in. We're talking about it being legitimately inappropriate for a flesh and blood human male to be shirtless. Is it time to introduce the male bikini top so that kiddies at a public pool don't have to see offensive male nips?

Maybe it is. Can you prove that beachside exposure male nipples doesn't drive children to grow up to be serial killers? I sure can't.

Honestly I thought the most jarring thing about Triton in that trailer was his beard not being all white.

That fucking sebastian. There are so many crab that are not horrifying. Hell most people assumed he was lobster. Make him one of those. They are far cuter (if sea bugs can be cute) then crabs. That thing is just horrible to look at.

I honestly don't know what the right move woulda been. Probably just to cartoonify the designs of all the talking animals a fair bit and adjust the rest of the setting to mesh with it. But this realistic crab ain't it. Sebastian is such an animated worrywort character, he's gotta be able to express that. Unless that isn't his characterization this time around. Idk.

After what they did to Mushu would not put it past them. The cool talking animal friend isn't doing well in these live actions movies . I don't know about Jimminy I could not pull my self to watch Pinocchio.
