it depends on how much you value your family structure/relationships (some people might not trust you and/or feel negatively towards you) and any potential genetic issues you might pass on to offspring, if any are involved.

for the latter, I think it's more of an issue if more than one generation does it, but I could be wrong.

As long as there isn't any sort of abuse going on, everything is consensual, and you have no intentions of reproducing anyway, I personally don't think it particularly matters.

I could be wrong. I just know that for as long as I can remember the big reason why incest is inherently bad is because it promotes the passing on of genetic mutations and defects to the next generation. I don't know what the chances of getting the genetic defects / mutations are increased by. I just know that since I was a kid this was the major reason why it was bad to practice incest.

I could be wrong or this could have been proven wrong and I just never learned it was or cared to know.

This is the bigger issue when it comes to incest. The morality of it differs from person to person and there are too many variables to sift through.

At the very least, making it socially unacceptable reduces the instances of it occurring to some degree. I say some degree because a lot if us have that 2nd or 3rd cousin....
