I don't think they need a ton of rights for a first movie, if its successful enough the sequel can get more.

Huntress and Doctor are pretty good original killers to feature in the movie

The way to make this movie is to ignore the fact that they use famous characters in the game. There's a story that can be told about survivors from killers being pulled into a universe where they need to survive against successful killers. Spend the first 20 or 30 minutes setting up our protagonists through quick montage-esque flashbacks to their struggles, and then have some mysterious force pull them into their sick game against the killers who murdered their friends.

There's something there.

A group of people wake up in a mysterious compound, with doors each leading to strangely themed locales. Survivors are Dwight, Meg, Claudette, Jake, Nea, Feng, Ace, and David.

Four doors open up before them - the MacMillan Estate (Trapper), the Red Forest (Huntress), Crotus Prenn Asylum (Nurse), & Lery's Memorial Institute (Doctor). Many other doors remain closed.

A lovecraftian Entity controls things behind the scenes of course, and uses the survivors' energy to feed off of. The survivors explore each of the realms but meet their grisly fates at the hands of the killers.

When the survivors die however, they are simply returned to the safety of the compound. There, they wake up and repeat the process again and again and again.

They slowly get to learn the Killers' patterns and weaknesses - and each Killer defeated weakens the Entity slightly.

I think combining a time loop horror movie with the satirical and trope-full elements of something like Cabin in the Woods could make this an incredibly unique & surprisingly fun horror comedy personally.

Post-credits scene: as more and more doors open up and the survivors realize how much more they have to go through - glimpses of other doors are revealed, showing the Wraith, Knight, Clown - and finally, the infamous clawed glove of Freddy Krueger.

I feel like Haddie would be a good choice to be the main character, as she investigates the entity and the mysterious disappearances of David King, Jake Park, Nea Karlsson and Claudette Morrel. Maybe throw Feng in there as well.

I hope the climax of the movie just involves the survivors getting so good they can flashlight troll the killer constantly until the killer leaves.

I... should be excited for this, but I'm not.
