I actually had to look at a guide for a couple of these regular ol dungeon puzzles

Ehhh I thought it was pretty easy when by background was just ocarina, majora, and wind waker

I haven't played it basically since release, but I recall getting stuck once or twice on the overworld/trying to figure out exactly where to go and what required kinstone fusion to do in order to progress, but not so much in the dungeons

I know when I played it on release I beat it in one or two sittings without really having any help.

I don't want to say dumb now but maybe not as used to the good old 2d Zelda formula. Because I really felt like Minish Cap was fun but a short and standard formula from the series.

Its easier than the Oracles but probably harder than the average 3D Zelda

for the most part it's really easy but I guess specifically there are just things that I became used to games just "telling me"

like for some reason I didn't think that running into the "shiny trees" with the pegasus boots would turn them into shrink stumps. for some reason I thought you had to find a kinstone to change them into stumps. so I never even tried running into them with the dash, even though I knew that this was a thing you could do from LttP. so I spent literally an hour trying to find kinstones that would open up the lake hylia dungeon when all I had to do was run into the tree

tldr: I am just dumb now

"Smarter" than the average Zelda because of the 3D games but "dumber" than the average 2D Zelda

The stuff you need to do to just finish the game is pretty onpar with the rest of the series but some of the sidequests have the most esoteric content in the series post-NES

I have had this feeling before. I think in Twilight princess, which is an overall easy game that tells you almost everything, I got stuck in a place where all you needed to do was roll into something.

the last zelda game that I had trouble with and had to use a guide for was OoT.

stuff like jumping through the spider web, or being able to light deku sticks on fire was completely alien to me, and at that point I had previously got 100% completion in Lttp and LA on my own.

I'm not sure I've ever gotten stuck for a significant period of time in a 2D Zelda dungeon (sans the original because you know) but gotten stuck in plenty of 3D Zelda dungeons. Where are people getting the idea that the 2D Zeldas are smarter?
