I am very satisfied using linux for the past 18 years and having to us windows rarely for work (but not for actual real work, just testing software).

You know, statistically, people who won't shut up about windows XP have actual developmental issues and higher rates of psychopathy, incidents of animal abuse.

I can't remember where I read it, you could probably find the source somewhere.

I am cool as long as you don't use malware-infested Windows 11.

I use the malware-infested Windows 11. I don't pretend it's anything better than the 5th re-skin of Windows Vista with extra malware, it just runs all the software I need.

The NSA has had a good look at every aspect of my life and is ready to blackmail me should I ever run for public office a little too hard.

I write software that logs every spawned process on a machine. I have no idea why Windows has any right to run "msteamsupdate.exe" multiple times per hour on a fresh installation of Windows 11. Thisd is just one of a dozen applications nobody knows is running in the background while they live peacefully.
Oh yea, their license, and their right to do whatever they want.

10's mostly OK, honestly. I haven't noticed it be that bad.

XP and 7 were the best though, I'll agree there. Vista was flat out annoying what with its "Do you want to run this thing you double clicked?" thing on by default., however, but it's passable once it's turned off.

From what I've used during their heydays:
XP = 7 > 10 > 98 = 95 > Vista

I never had anything with 2000/ME at the time, but I've used it via VM and it's basically better 9X but otherwise the same. 3.1 is fine for what it is, so nowadays it'd be more like: XP = 7 > 2000 = 10 > 98 = 95 > 3.1 > Vista

2000 and ME aren't the same thing. 2000 is basically XP without the garish skin, using the NT kernel (which was previously just used for workstations/servers) that Windows uses to this day, where as ME was an update to 98 and the last release that used their old consumer kernel.
