Ive been identifying as Black for a while because I like to be on the winning team, the right-wing culture warrior sarcastically noted. And I like to help. I always thought if you help the Black community, thats sort of the biggest lever, you could find the biggest benefit.

"it's okay to be white" isn't a hateful slogan, but it's one that far-right groups have coopted so that it's associated with them.

The phrase Its Okay To Be White is a slogan popularized in late 2017 as a trolling campaign by members of the controversial discussion forum 4chan. The original idea behind the campaign was to choose an ostensibly innocuous and inoffensive slogan, put that slogan on fliers bereft of any other words or imagery, then place the fliers in public locations. Originators assumed that liberals would react negatively to such fliers and condemn them or take them down, thus proving that liberals did not even think it was okay" to be white.
Whether the original trollers were white supremacist or not, actual white supremacists quickly began to promote the campaignoften adding Internet links to white supremacist websites to the fliers or combining the phrase with white supremacist language or imagery. This was not a surprise, as white supremacists had themselves used the phrase in the pastincluding on flierslong before the 4chan campaign originated.
The original flier campaign occurred in late October 2017 and a similar campaign took place at the same time in 2018, but use of the phrase has extended far beyond the flier campaigns.

Basically it's a saying made up by trolls attempting to trigger people that was then picked up and used by white supremacists. Just like the OK symbol being co-opted and just like clown imagery as well.

The slogan by itself is harmless but it was coopted/associated with alt-right groups, particularly in ~2016-2017. Same with "All Lives Matter" where it's a response to "Black Lives Matter" as a slogan. The latter isn't exclusionary but focuses on one group, the former is non exclusionary but is a response to something non-exclusionary treating it as though it's exclusionary.

Disappointing how Adams has become. First sign of trouble was about 10 years ago when he started bitching about Aaron McGruder's Boondocks strip at the Comicon.

No. We mostly think it's just another way for some white people to feel victimized, though. And it just so happens to also be used by white people who are also racist.

Nobody actually disagrees with the phrase "It's ok to be white." However, 100% of people that make that statement are doing so for very bad reasons.
