I'm on the TMNT run that released in 2011 it looks like, not sure if this is a colored version of the original or if it's newer.

Had a few days off work, don't read much when i'm off but back to it tonight. Gonna get through another volume or two of Saga, and explore a bit more on the app for something else, maybe Fables.

Unfortunately Saga vol 3 was the last free one on the app, so I'm probably just gonna buy the rest. I found the original TMNT black and white series that I think I'm gonna try.

Is Fables part of that Wolf Among Us game? Noticing the same characters and names, I'd be surprised if it isnt.

Yup, I think the game is a prequel to the comic.
OG TMNT is pretty good, I believe I stopped at the artist change. Don't forget to read the one-shots too, Raphael and Donatello have cool issues.

I meant to read today and last night but I was so stressed out over my final results that I basically just kept fucking around on the internet and refreshing my grade results and student email to see if it had finally updated. >_>
How'd your finals go? Fingers crossed for well.

ImAMarvel posted... Good work!! I'm glad :D

cuh posted... I am indeed familiar with this topic :)

Comics Kingdom is legit, it's the official King Features Syndicate website (the big name in strip publishing, going back to early 1900s--if you've heard of a comic strip, its a pretty safe bet that it ran under KFS). I've never subscribed to them personally but

With the caveat that strips, especially early ones, are oftentimes incomplete due to the ephemeral matter upon which they were printed

I think you might be cleared to subscribe.
Just doing some estimates:
The Little King ran for 45 years
Started June 7 1930 in The New Yorker, switched to King Features Syndicate on September 9 1934, ran until July 20 1975
Since it was a Sunday comic, we can compare the 2235 strips Comics Kingdom has to the number of Sundays between 1930-1975 and 1934-1975: 2355 for the first set, 2133 for the second.

Four possible explanations for the discrepancy:
1. They have the whole 1930-1975 run but are missing 120 strips
2. They have the whole 1930-1975 run and the missing 120 are just holiday/vacation days
3. They have the whole 1934-1975 run and the extra 102 are repeats
4. My math is bad

Most likely I'd guess at number 2 (or 4 lol).

It does look like they have a 30 day trial for free, so maybe give it a go and see what's what?

Alternative option for the early strips would be to track down 1930-1934 of the New Yorker, maybe Internet Archive has em...

Thank you, wow! Very knowledgeable ^_^
I'm always glad to help!!
Following up, I did some sleuthing for the early New Yorker mags and found the New York Public Library has access to their digital archive. Signed up for a digital card, checked out the June 7th magazine and sure enough, The Little King was on page 14--if the earliest one in the Comics Kingdom archive looks like this:
https://i.vgy.me/XoIqz8.png
Then that'd favor point 2 above. Another favor: I leafed through the rest of June 1930's issues and so far we can knock 2355 down to 2352, there hasn't been a second strip yet.

Comixology kinda sucks, lot of stuff the first few volumes were free, then you gotta buy the rest.

Marvel app you don't have to download comics to read them, comix you do and it throttled my tablet hard drive with 100 gigs because I had no idea they were being stored. Only fix is to uninstall and reinstall.

Wish there was one that functioned like the Marvel one, but had DC, Marvel, Image and others. I was hoping this was what comixology would be but it's not great.

That site had a 100-day free trial for Mothers Day so I made an account ^_^ and I want to get a digital NYPL card like you too (sadly Im not in NY though )
I checked it out and you can apparently sign up for a 3 month card as an out of state resident! Just need name/email/address etc
100 days is awesome, I hope they have the early ones.

MabusIncarnate posted... That's too bad about Comixology, it sound really ungainly. Too many apps that should be user-friendly seem like they've been developed by people that never had to use em...

Read 3 chapters of Fables, this pretty much follows the Wolf Among Us right from the start story wise.

I was really liking Saga a lot, it's too bad it cut off after 3. Marvel app, if it's there it's all there.

The Little King is a baller, that's some good stuff

Finished the first volume of Jonah Hex, it was alright. Kinda lost the plot when they tried to introduce one IMO, should have kept it Enemy Ace style with one-off stories.

Back to the shuffle, read the first 6 Preacher comics, liked the show a lot, never knew anything about the books. Same with Walking Dead, which I'll get to also.

Saw Alias on there and that it's Jessica Jones related, I know there used to be a television series called Alias but not sure if they are related.

Read a few Witchblade also, it's solid.

Finished the first 12 issues, some thoughts so far:
Ennis has this way of pinwheeling between edgy, dark and juvenile...and then he does these immaculate, meaningful scenes with his cast of lowlives and holier than thous. He really nails "man," the good, bad and everything in between.
Dillon, I'm usually not a fan of his art but I think Hollingsworth on colors really evened it out.
Plot is interesting so far, although I don't think it's reached Hitman level yet in terms of impact (which IMO was already a 10/10 by the close of its first year).
On that note Tommy from Hitman pulls a ton from Jesse and Cassidy, its cool seeing his "bloodline" in action.
Looking forward to starting the next year tomorrow.
