I work as an AP associate @ Walmart. I was involved in an accident at work. I attempted to stop a guy. He kicked me with steel toe boots in the knee. Got sent to the hospital. Guess what? My ambulance ride cost me $8k because it was "out of network". The hospital stay will cost me $30k. My insurance isn't playing ball. They aren't going to cover me for something they say "Is my fault".

God, I love America. After extensive heated talks I got it "brought down" to $14k. Oh boy.

Exactly, they don't make enough money to run 8 simultaneous ad campaigns by paying out legitimate claims

This though idw an AP is but generally speaking if a person is stealing something you are t suppose to confront them in retail settings. Mainly due to both a lot of bullshit ways a person can sue you and legit the times where they might not be stealing at all and you accused them.

Why are you using your own insurance? If it happened at work then shouldn't Walmart be covering that since it was a work place injury?

This. If it happened on the job that is covered under workman's comp.

*pays thousands of dollars a year in premiums*
*pays another $2000 in deductibles so stuff can finally be covered*
*gets in an accident and gets taken to a hospital that happens to be in-network, what luck!*
*a doctor stands in the room for three minutes looking at charts and leaves*
*two months later receives a $3000 bill because that doctor who did nothing at the in-network hospital was out-of-network*
*also the blood work got sent to an out-of-network lab so that got denied too*

truly the greatest country on the planet

Depending on what they meant by "attempted to stop", it's possible that they went against policy trying to confront the man for whatever reason.

Did you manage get rid of the "out of network" part?

Such insane bullshit. My uncle had to try to fight it last year and got a little bit of coverage. If you have an emergency "I'm ****ing dying, BUT WAIT. DON'T COME YET. Are you in my insurer's network???"

Bolded is the problem. You can actually be fired from your job because of that.

TC if you reach out to the media and start a GoFundMe you'll probably be OK.

You give them all your money, and then they spend that money doing everything in their power not to have to provide the services you have paid for. Insurance is the biggest scam. It's literally legalized gambling except like if when you won the Powerball you had to go through 3 years of legal battles to actually collect.

Nope. They aren't doing a thing. They claim i could have stepped out of the way. If workers comp don't come through I'm screwed. My Coach is doing his part to get them to approve it.

Guy and his girlfriend were stealing a bunch of expensive items. Made a beeline for the front doors. I intercepted. I didn't tackle. I just got in front of him to stop him. If he ran out the doors, oh well. We have cameras. I'd get a license plate and Police'd get him later.

As I said i stepped in front. He kicks me right smack in the knee with a steel toe boot. I go down. Police get called, along with an Ambulance.

Nope. My job is asset protection. I'm granted permission to lay hands on a shop lifter.

Okay, so that sounds like workers comp and they should reimburse your bills. But I can't say for sure since I work for the state, not Walmart and am unsure of their policies. But when I got hurt in an accident that was entirely my fault (hit my head standing up after getting a can of Monster out of the mini-fridge that was on the ground and had to get stitches), I went to the hospital and workers comp paid for everything since it was on the job.

My incident was way dumber than yours and I still got 100% covered, so tbh I wouldn't worry about it.

They wanna make sure you don't cost them money of course. If they can't make a profit, nuts bad business for them.

Health care is indeed absolutely shitty. Sorry that you got kicked in the knee by an asshole customer. How serious is it?
