Well that was an interesting way to start the season.

That looked absolutely horrifying. I hope he doesn't have a concussion or something.

Also, that's why they usually have tarps or something so people can't copy puzzle answers.

Also also...looking at these tribes, Tika looks like they're EASILY the physically weakest of the three.

I already like this cast so so so much more than last season. This feels more like what we had in 41 and 42.

And yeah, I'm really concerned that Bruce likely got at least a minor concussion.

So...just never cast a Bruce on Survivor again. It's a cursed name. >_>

Yeah, as someone who has had a significant concussion, that really looks like one to me.

Also, I know this is in bad taste, but I can't stop thinking it.

They really should've licensed a clip from Survivor Historians and just overdubbed "Bruce, can ya poop, mate?"

Kanegai made it a lot deeper before being MedEvac'd though.

This Bruce should be brought back at some point, though, because... yeah. Imagine him, Pat, and Kourtney Moon (is she doing okay?) as tribe captains. (Or Jackson, maybe, but he lied to production about his medications until the replacements were sent home, and I don't think Jeff and Co. liked that)

I already like this cast so so so much more than last season. This feels more like what we had in 41 and 42.

Last season's cast is lesser than the sum of its parts; they didn't develop interesting chemistry or "pop" as a group, even though there were a handful of individuals who were fantastic.

Yeah, what would it be other than some kind of advantage? Brandon is a very bad player. He burned bridges with Maddy and she won't hesitate to bus him.

Lauren seems to be on the bottom of that tribe given how they immediately started treasure hunting when she left.

I hope Lauren comes back on a warpath when she finds out they went key-hunting without her.

I like the advantage Lauren got. A nice high risk, high reward.

Sarah's advantage feels O.P. as fuck, especially if you get a double idol play.

Lauren played that fucking perfectly. By saying she lost her vote, she can not vote at the next tribal council and get her banked vote out of the way early, and hang onto that sucker.

Lauren isn't the first Lauren to get the Bank-a-Vote advantage. Recall that Rimmer in HHH did too!

Claire is a sneaky, sneaky girl. I kinda love it, but wish Lauren wasn't the victim.

Also, Ratu has 4/6 of the tribe with something worth putting a target on their backs. This should be fun (and end with an obvious Lauren boot).

I still say this tribal council is going to end with a woman going home. But it might be Maddy instead of Lauren.

Maddy calling Brandon a "kingpin" before there's even been a vote is pretty ridiculous. Poor form. Reminds me of Reem and Big Wendy in EOE calling Wentworth/Lolly a "power couple" before they ever voted.

What cost her was Brandon distrusting her over the key situation (after she rightfully distrusted him over the key situation). That, and her tribe being a fucking shitshow who didn't have enough votes among them to make any sort of reasonable counterattack.

Reem and Wendy were acting more like a power couple than Wentworth and Lolly. Who was trying to tell people what to do? The former.

Maddy was wrong to target Brandon - he rightfully distrusted her and she rightfully distrusted him, but she stuck her neck out by trying to vote out the guy with the idol. She could've used him as a meat shield later if she tried to recover that relationship.

This tribe is a total shitshow, though. So much paranoia running around and the only one who doesn't look like an idiot in this episode is Kane. That's... an accomplishment. This is like Ua on steroids.

I think I hate all the people on orange but especially Jamie who is completely and utterly useless. We're going to have to hear her endless mindfulness bullshit all damn season while she gets 0 votes at the end, won't we?

I liked the episode overall (until TC which was emblematic of everything wrong with modern Survivor) and like the cast overall.

This TC was gloriously chaotic because of everything wrong with modern Survivor. I enjoyed it because it almost felt like a parody.

Worth noting that I no longer take Survivor seriously. I stopped listening to podcasts, stopped talking about strategy at length (really just shorter posts), and am just a semi-casual. I'm content with that.

I saw that Kane is from my city which is kinda cool because its not that big of a place in Canada.

Finally got around the watching the episode. I think it's hilarious that the first time the Shot in the Dark ends up working it's for someone who didn't even need it.

Also glad that Tika won immunity, since the two fun people on that tribe were the outsiders.

I'm kinda watching it casually now too. I haven't looked at bios pre-season since like pre-WAW and based on this season's premiere I don't even have everyone's names memorized. I was just on Youtube and one of the recommendations for me was "Survivor 44: Meet Danny Massa" and I was like "There's a Danny on this season?"

Man, we had some good character scenes, and then we switched immediately to all three tribes hunting for keys and idols.

That being said, yay Carolyn!

Carolyn is fantastic

This scene is amazing. Carolyn, the most chaotic lunatic on this tribe, has somehow made this whole tribe paranoid of one another.

If Carolyn wins this game because she keeps pulling funky shit and everyone keeps writing her off as a suspect and taking each other out under suspicion... How amazing would that be?

Prior to this challenge I had no idea Josh was even on the season. I THINK that was the last name I needed to learn but I also thought Danny was so

I love the editing of this scene being all "Carson is so smart and he's playing both sides, because he's SO smart." Only for CAROLYN of all people to figure out what he's doing.

Not sure if Carolyn got the real and fake idol mixed up or production actually switched 'em. If the beads are fake on one side and the coin is the fake on another, it's meant to confuse players. So whoever finds Danny's coin will think theirs is legit based on what Carolyn played.

Not that this will inevitably happen since Carolyn might be playing her idol tonight but we'll see. She's an entertaining hot mess and I am here for it.

I saw a clip on the subreddit of Danny finding the idol, and it looks like his idol is some sort of pendant. So Carolyn is a mess, but she does know what her real idol is.

That first Tika scene says a lot. Carson is giving this smug, overexcited confessional about how smart he is, then Carolyn gives a quirky, genuinely happy confessional about not getting voted out.

I was so happy for a second when Jaime found the idol, only to immediately turn sour when it turned out it was just some Matthew superfan bullshit. It's even worse when Danny was so much more engaging and entertaining in doing the same exact thing a scene prior.
