What would you do?

I just got a package from Amazon that I ordered over a year ago. It had gotten lost and Amazon shipped out a replacement, which I received already. And now the original shipment FINALLY arrived today.

What should I do with it? It's a steam cleaner. I don't really need a second one, but returning it is going to be a major hassle and they've already written it off as lost.

Keep it as a spare or sell it. Could even donate it to a charity shop.

Amazon has a return policy of 30 days, even with the story behind it there is a pretty good chance they just wouldn't be interested in processing a return on it. A minimum wage employee peeing in a bottle at their work station most likely won't care a whole lot.

At this point, you might as well keep it...

Selling it could work... Or keeping it to lend out, or as a spare... or a gift... Idk...

At this point, if you called them they would probably tell you to keep it. All the paperwork and shipping is not worth getting back an item worth a couple hundred bucks at most, that they will have to turn around and sell for probably less then that.

Just put it on ebay and make some money off of it.

I would contact Amazon and explain the situation first.

Keep it or sell it. Bezos doesn't need the money.

And whatever you do, don't contact Amazon. No need to open a can of worms unnecessarily.

If Amazon sends you two of the same item, the only time they might ever want it back is if they both arrived quickly.

So you order let's say a video game, and two of them arrive within 5 days. They might expect the other one back if they notice the mistake, if you ever receive one of an item then another comes way later they won't ever expect it back. Shit 9 times out of 10 even if they do send you two of the same item quickly when you ordered one they won't want it back. Again this is just written off as a mistake on their end and Amazon always assumes responsibility for those.

Those claiming that if you tell Amazon they will immediately demand it back are also wrong, if it did truly take a year to arrive. Amazon typically stands by their delivery estimates heavily, if they tell you a package will arrive in 5 days and it takes 10 or 15 they will sometimes refund you and let you keep it or, at least give you a partial refund if you call and complain.
