Yeah. I'm afraid I'll fire it up and it won't be how I remembered it because of how much progress has been made since this game came out.

Being honest here, I'm happy for those that want to play it, but I would be more excited if it was Unreal Tournament or Medal of Honor Breakthrough.

Goldeneye gets crapped on too much recenetly. Sure, it's "dated', but it was made almost 30 years ago. I've always could sort of "seperate" old and new games in my mind and can deal with any dated or otherwise primitive aspects of old games just fine unless they're completely unplayable. It seems to be in fashion to shit on old, beloved games like GE, Ocarina of Time, and so on.

I can still go back to old NES and N64 games no prob. Goldeneye is still incredibly fun to play imo

There's just A LOT of games that don't age well, and I have a feeling this will be one of them.

I feel there's a different between a game being "Dated" and a game not aging well.

For example, compared to today's side scrollers and sports games, Contra and Tecmo Superbowl are very dated, but both games have aged extremely well. Whereas the original Metal Gear did not, because it was greatly improved upon in future incarnations.

Nah, Metal Gear 2 has been improved upon but it's still an awesome as fuck game on its own. Same with Pokemon Red/Blue compared to later entries >_> As long as you know it came out in the 90s and set your expectations, it's easy to get immersed in its mechanics just fine.

That's why I said Metal Gear. Metal Gear for NES did NOT age well.

Rad Racer is another one. Was a pretty innovative "Out Run" port for the time, but event the graphically superior Our Run arcade game didn't age well when you compare it future racing games.

Because it is running on a poorly coded Nintendo 64 emulator. People were expecting a modern update like the Xbox Live remake with proper online multiplayer. Nintendo probably was all like "nah" because it wouldn't work with their N64 emulator scheme on the Switch.

That's true. I still say that even if some aspects haven't aged well, I think most people are still too hard on Goldeneye. Some act like it's almost completely unplayable.

we just never really played those levels >_> We basically did Facility, Temple, and Complex, which are the best ones anyway. And sometimes Stack and Archives

I remember Egyptian being an absolute turd of a multiplayer map though. I think you could only do 2 players on it and it was way too fucking big.

Fun fact: Statue has player and weapon placement for multiplayer use coded into but was never used. Which is probably for the best because Statue seems like a terrible level for multiplayer >_>
