At least last year I had Nightmare Alley to root for because that movie was awesome, but everything from this year's list that I've seen is shit. I watched Top Gun Maverick last night and it's so fucking cliche it hurt.

I've hear Banshees compared to In Bruges tho so I should watch that.

I see it as Oscars trying to get more popularity by including the two highest grossing movies of last year. They were both well received by viewers and critics, so it isn't completely out of left field. Honestly I don't think any recent CBM, Avatar 2, or TG:M deserve the award or even a nom.

Avatar has like 77% on rottentomatoes and 65% on metacritic, well received is a stretch

Get rid of all 4 and this show appeals to such a small audience. I dont even know if general audiences would enjoy some of these oscar bait movies. My non moving going friends that ventured out and tried everything, everywhere were so hit or miss with it

Personally, I don't think Triangle of Sadness deserved picture or director.

I love how just because someone doesn't personally love a film that was nominated, it somehow means the entire year must have sucked

I love EEAAO and hope the best for it, but repeating what I said when it was released, it's just not the type of film that the acadamy gives awards to. I hope I'm wrong.

I'm all for Banshees getting awarded, which Inthink is much more likely. Outside of that' the only two others I see taking best picture are Tr and The Fablemans.

We'll know if some shady shit is happening if Andrea Riseborough wins for best actress. She had zero buzz until just a couple of weeks ago when suddenly, all at once, a bunch of random people started campaigning for her. It felt very forced.

I wish Incould care less. As someone who loves film, I hate the acadamy and I think award shows are bullshit. Yet here I am.
