There are plenty of criticisms to be made about PETA, but a lot of popular arguments come from astroturfing.

Too be fair I kind of agree on Pokmon as it is basically enslaving animals, and keeping them in tiny cages while only letting them out for training them to fight for you, and betting on the outcome as you get money from beating other trainers. Either that or you are mugging others. Yes it is just a game, but pretty terrible basis imo.

There are some important details about the dog story. PETA had been asked by local trailer park management to gather up the local stray dogs and cats that had been attacking livestock animals. The dog in question was untethered and had no identification. The owner's other dogs were tethered and weren't taken.

And a thing that people need to understand about PETA's high euthanization numbers is they aren't running adoption shelters. They take in any animal, including unadoptable and terminally ill ones. No-kill shelters are very selective about what animals they rescue since they have to keep their euthanization numbers down.

Yeah, you're also missing important details.

They did it within hours. State law required a 5 day grace period. They did it in HOURS.

They denied it. The family had to get surveillance footage just to prove that they did it. They sent a fruit basket as an apology. They wanted the case thrown out, because they paid a 500 dollar fine over stealing and murdering someone's puppy.

I've taken animals to no-kill shelters. Many times. And I've visited them too. I took a stay, likely inbred cat and her kittens to just a random one with minutes notice. Guess what? Immediately they took her in.

PETA doesn't care about animals. Their activism means fuck all. They aren't animal control, they shouldn't be treated as such, and they don't act like it. They don't deserve the defense. And I don't get why you would jump to it, then leave out these crucial details.

PETA shouldn't be euthanizing any animals, again, they aren't animal control.

What do you do for animal rights advocacy? It's easy to rightfully criticize PETA for the fucked up things they've done but what do you actually do that's constructive for the animal rights cause?
