As an author, I write about multiple topics, including ghost hunting and haunted places.
My first ghost-related articles were published in Fate magazine in the 1970s.
I began my first ghost-related website in the mid-1990s, and launched HollowHill.com in 1999. Thats where many of todays ghost hunting TV stars first developed their skills.
Since then, Ive witnessed dramatic changes in paranormal research.

But people do use it for dumb stuff like "My second grade teachers name was Mrs. Myers and I remember it as Mrs. Myer. WHOA MANDELLA EFFECT"!

The biggest example I can think of is everyone calling the Mengele Effect the Mandela Effect.

It's just so easy to explain in most instances. Sinbad is a name from Arabian Nights, which also has a genie. "Stein" is a more common name than "Stain". The Monopoly guy doesn't have a monocle, but people thought he did because it's a common feature for turn of the century wealthy socialite characters/cartoons.

It's kind of fun to make those realizations, but it's not a big deal.

memory in general is a lot less reliable than people normally think it is

OK so I was born in 1990. I distinctly remember the Berenstein Bears, "Luke, I am your father", and Sex in the City (AND I grew up in NYC during the peak years of that show, it WAS sex in the city), among many other examples.

It's even weirder to me that the official explanation that so many individuals are willing to cosign is just, "Nope - you're wrong, your memory is unreliable" etc.

This is Gaslighting 101:

Get people to question their memories, question their reality, rewrite history, and then accuse them of not having an accurate perception.

It crossed my mind that the deliberate use of the mandela effect would be an incredibly convenient way to

- create a chasm between those who remember the "Old World" and those who are born into the "New World"

- rewrite historical events 30-50 years from now and show that those who remember things being different are either dead or crazy

- slowly and deliberately break down people's ability to trust in their own minds, much the way our current social model understands how narcissism works on the individual level

- and of course that would make us much more vulnerable and easy to control through other forms of propaganda AS WELL as to discredit anyone who dissents from official narratives.

Just some food for thought!

The one who burned the church down had a much older account than 2007 and he was also banned, IIRC.

Yeah it shouldn't be used like it's an actual scientific term. But I think it's fine as a short way of saying humans have dog shit memory.
