I am not sure if this is a good bracket so lemme know if it sucks and I can rearrange things. Phoenix Wright vs. Ghost Trick feels like it could be an amazing match or could be a complete waste of Ghost Trick so idk on that one. Also, like half the bracket got 5 nominations only, so I am likely over and under-seeding a number of titles. Regardless, I tried to keep matches as interesting as I could while allowing for potential later matches to also be good. We shall see.

Not sure what I'm gonna do for side bracket. I completed the main bracket and went to bed right after. I'll probably run the first match Thursday night though, so gives you all time to predict/complain/speculate and me to come up with an appropriate side bracket format, rather than slapping something together without thinking, and realizing halfway through it's not going to work...

I like the bracket! It looks very tough for some games but there's no way to avoid that with a stacked field of 64 like this. I see your point with Ghost Trick, but idk maybe it'll pull off the upset.

Okay think I have an idea for side so I'll put this forward instead of doing my job...

Round 1 (10 Matches):
There are 49 games with 2 nominations. I will randomly pull a 1 nom game into the group and have 10 5way matches were winners move on. There are 22 games with 3 which won't partake in round 1 (Neither will 4 nom games), which means round 2 will consist of those 22 and the 10 winners for a clean 32.

Round 2 (9 Matches):
It gets a little stranger here, but battles will be done through 4ways, allowing for 8 matches total. Since there are 18 games, the winner moving on from each will make for 26, so two need to die. I think if we have a full match free-for-all where bottom two get eliminated, that would make it 24.

Round 3 (8 Matches):
4 nom games will now be present and we're going to 3ways baby. 1 moves on from each with 8 remaining.

Round 4+ (7 Matches):
Just a regular tournament from this point on. I will seed based on performance I guess, or just randomize it. Hell I may just try and make interesting matches, if everything goes right I'll just be happy to be here.

That makes 34 days needed to complete the side bracket, and main bracket will take 45 days, so even if I've fucked up math somewhere that's a pretty good outlier!

Also a gentle reminder the side bracket is meaningless and has no impact on the main brackets of this or any other tournament. No matter how it pans out, none of these games have achieved or lost anything in the eyes of our God, Peter Molyneux.

Random.org pulled Sin and Punishment: Star Successor as our 1 nom game btw

Bracket Thoughts:

• Not liking the arrangement of the fourpack that includes Layton/DS2 and AA1/Ghost Trick. Layton vs. Ghost Trick would be a better matchup IMO if you want two puzzle/visual novels squaring off in round 1.
• I feel like Demon's Souls is being wasted by going up against Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn. If you Demon's Souls up to a 14-Seed and put it against GTA5, that could be interesting.
• Skyward Sword is definitely being wasted in it's current position. Rather than feeding it to Brawl in a SFF feast, stick Skyward Sword in Portal's division (it can remain a 9-seed).
• Skyrim is also being wasted as an 8-seed destined to face Mario Galaxy in Round 2. If you have Skyrim and TWEWY swap spots, I think you'll have more drama in the bottom half of AA3's division.

Bracket looks great aside from those. Thanks for putting this together!

idk, Fire Emblem and WRPGs have looked so bad in these contests, I think Demon's Souls is a fun opponent and I'm not sure Skyrim is being wasted past a potentially interesting R1 match. Skyrim doesn't have the nomination support to move any higher than an 8-seed regardless.

FE's looked bad for sure. I think Demon's Souls has a good chance of beating RD.

Dark Souls/Xenoblade round 2. My heart.

This is the first time we're gonna see Souls games in action so this tournament will be a good indicator whether the series has a good play rate in this board or the fans are just simply the diehard vocal ones like us.

Fire Emblem has looked like absolute trash in these tourneys so I reckon its fans are just vocal diehards but not in any huge numbers around here. Unless Radiant Dawn has somehow become the most beloved game of its franchise in this board, Demon's Souls should be able to beat it. If Demon's fails to do it, then Souls games may be suffering from the same stigma as the Fire Emblems.

Demon's Souls is a lot more niche than Dark Souls is, which I think Souls fans tend to forget. Not sure if it'll matter in the small board sample size though. Either way I think it'll be a pretty neat one too look forward to.
