When Florida deputies arrested Jonathan Hernandez for allegedly possessing child porn, they were expecting to find more. But what authorities uncovered was jaw-dropping even for them.

At that time, we told you the investigation was just getting started and there would likely be more charges, the Highlands County Sheriffs Office posted via Facebook. What we should have said was there would likely be A LOT more charges like more than anyone in our county ... ever.

Hernandez now faces more than 1,180 counts of child pornography and four counts of bestiality images. The 23-year-old is being held on a $2.4 million bond; deputies note he has enough charges to possibly see a life sentence.

The sheriffs office first started investigating into Hernandez back in August, when a cybertip about internet crimes against kids came in from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.

Through a search warrant, detectives found child porn on his Discord account, a instant messaging application.

He was arrested on these findings Dec. 29 when deputies searched his Avon Park home and discovered 15 electronic devices.

At the time, he was only charged with two counts of possession of child pornography, two counts of transmitting child pornography, and one count of using a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony.

While out on bond, detectives gathered enough evidence on just one of the 15 devices to charge Hernandez with an additional 1,182 counts of child porn possession.

There is no telling how many charges he could face if detectives went through all the devices, the sheriffs office said. Detectives say Hernandezs collection of child porn is the largest they have ever seen.

He was arrested again on Wednesday stemming from the latest charges. Once the other devices are searched, Hernandezs case could culminate in one of the largest involving child porn possession in state history.

Holy shit. It sounds like they barely scratched the surface of his collection if he has 14 other electronic devices they haven't checked. Lock him up and look whoever he was sharing this stuff with.

The silver lining to this is that it gives investigators a LOT of evidence to investigate victims and other perps. It sounds like he was pretty reckless in how he obtained this stuff

This hopefully the people creating it get arrested too. Because it is good that the guy watching CP gets life in jail. But that doesnt stop more of it from being made if they arent catching the camera people or the traffickers.

The SS / FBI will have to look for sure but they can at least minimize it. This shit is traumatizing to look at and there's way more than anyone should have to be exposed to for courts.

They have to look though. How can they charge anyone with CP without looking to make sure that is what is on hard drive.

I get it is a touchy topic but maybe they use facial recognition to attempt to match CP victims to missing people. Or maybe the indentity of the creators. So it is important to keep looking through it. But yea I get the general thinking is stop looking keep it out of sight out of mind.

On an extremely fundamental level there's no difference between them and someone else hoarding TBs of porn. It's just the porn they hoard is abhorrent.

I 100% agree with these too. I just wasn't sure of how that kind of thing works, as far as tracing it back to the source. But it's kind of scary to think about how many creators are possibly out there, if he had over 1000.

I have honestly not seen or heard of many creators getting arrested. It seems the news is mainly the watchers.

The thing that frightens me is lets say CP has been going on since at least the 70s. Why hasnt there been any girl or boy that has grown up and said they were a part of it for all these years. And named the location the videos were being shot and the people behind the scenes acting in them and filming them. It makes me wonder if they like all get killed after they shoot the videos.

Most child porn is made between family and friends. Big child porn studios are mostly a myth. It's all amateur stuff. So the kids involved are likely too afraid to report the people they know and/or have repressed it anyway.

Many of them don't know where or who. They might be able to say like "somewhere in Russia" but they probably don't know things like addresses or names of their captors.

The children aren't treated like employees just illegal. They're confined, abused, denied access to any kind of contact with the outside world. Any who escape won't have a lot of details and will be extremely traumatized.

I just responded in another post. Traci Lords was an underage person who shot adult porn. It would be like if we found out Sasha Grey or Jenna Haze was 16-17 when they shot her first videos. The videos were a part of the mainstream adult porn industry and person was using a fake ID. I dont think it is the same realm. The people filming Traci Lords defense was we thought she was 18. She gave us a fake ID and her films were in DVDs with other 18+ year olds.
