If you actually own that nine or ten square meters the shack sets on, that's capitalism.
Otherwise, it's feudalism all over again.

I meant what they are intended for. If you look at the tweet, what do you think a "resident in need" is?

Also, we spend a lot of tax dollars on homeless, there just seems to be too much corruption.

No.

It'd be a lot cheaper and easier to build a long-term rental hotel than a bunch of these shacks... that will fail within months.

And the tenant could have their own bath. Or the bath could be split between two rooms. Or a large gang latrine with multiple showers/toilets/sinks could serve.

At least, in the long-term it's cheaper.

Those shacks will stand for decades, if the framing is competent.
Homestead ownership of the shack and the dirt its on, and poverty will dissolve.

The alternative is "projects", and we already fucked that up.

The walls of those shacks are about a millimeter thick, and likely made of the cheapest plastic available. Meaning it'll become brittle and crack from UV exposure. Then water will get into the shack making it unusable.

The corner aluminum poles look to be very narrow, probably 2cm. Additionally, you see "+" brace on the inside, but on the outside it's only a horizontal bar. All of which is affixed to the *OUTSIDE* of the framework (ie: the corner poles). They take up virtually no space at all, as on the exterior, you can literally *SEE* the corner poles that make up the internal framework.

Furthermore, it looks like the wall is made of two separate thin sheets, with the horizontal bar as the fix-point. And with the internal vertical bar to act as support so it doesn't collapse.

But as you can see both the vertical and the horizontal from the inside and they *BOTH* affix to the exterior of the corner poles... yet at the same time are very close to flush with the same pole in the exterior view...

...these panels have to be as thin as physically possible for it to work.

Here's another picture, with it painted. Notice the door. How thick the edges are... and that it's hollow. Meaning it's a thin sheet.

LA is building homeless parks using the same company that Bezos is now funding through his "Home for All."

And the pictures in the tweet are from the homeless park that company set up in LA back in 2021. You can tell, because the handicapped shack in the Twitter photo has the exact same number as the one in the LA park.

Here's a link to a news article about the original park. But more importantly, it's got a large photo album of the shacks.

This has about as much space as the bunkbed and wall-locker set up I had the first time I deployed.

Except that was part of a tent that had heaitng and air.

But the footprint of the bed, walk space and desk looks to take up the same footprint as my bunk bed, walk space and wall-locker.

It's... Liveable but certainly not long term (I was there for 7 months before moving)

The size of the little home wouldn't bother me much, especially if all I was using it for was a place to sleep and using the desk for a laptop so I could job hunt or remote work or something.
