I've a figurative itching to play it once more. What can you say about it, without comparing it to the other Paper Mario games?

I didn't care for it much my first time around, although it is rather funny...

but after watching speedruns of the game I gained a huge appreciation for it

good fun game. not really anything bad to say.

Loved it the first playthrough but realized how many chapters are kinda annoying on subsequent playthroughs. Still would rather play it more than the following games though

This pretty much. I was disappointed it wasn't like the previous ones tbh but after playing it I did enjoy it quite a bit!

Last Paper Mario I actually completed (and enjoyed playing if I am being honest).

Just started playing it a few days ago because my kids wanted a Wii & Wii-U for christmas.

It's a good game if you like the other Mario games, but a bad game if you really like the Paper Mario games.

I thought it was okay the first time I played it, but dropped it quickly every time I tried another playthrough. It has some cool ideas and I enjoyed the story, but there are a lot of sections that drag on too long and I didn't really like the core gameplay.

It's like the new Star Wars trilogy movies, it shares the same name but is an utter disappointment because it was never made for Star Wars fans.

I strongly believe SPM should have been a 3ds game instead, and let the rpg gameplay stay on consoles

That would have been hard, given that the 3DS didn't come out for another ~4 years after SPM's launch.

Hi-technical game. Chapters 3 was amazing. Chapter 2, 7 and the End were pretty good. Chapter 1 was alright. Chapter 4 and 5 kinda suck. The first half of Chapter 6 sucked but got good by the end of it. As long as you know not to expect it to be a turn-based RPG, it's a good game.

Also, an Eclair topic that isn't self-deprecating. That's a nice change of pace.

I like it. Except for the over there. Fuck that place, that level was ridiculous.

I replayed it about a year ago. It's actually pretty great. It's much cheesier than the previous games in the series, but gameplay wise it's great.
