Probably either this or he is fully convinced, of his own accord or one of his analysts, that his highest profit margins for Twitter are the alt right. But this doesnt make sense really because hes alienating advertisers and is supposedly bleeding money.

Maybe just trying to push as much right wing propaganda before the Twitter sink ships so he can create enough conservative influence to keep policy the same to continue abusing the current system and make his way back up the ladder when/if Twitter dies

Hes been falling for a while now. Ive known some people (not personally) that seemed blinded by Elons future for humanity schtick for years.

Everything we've known about the guy for years has shown him to be vain, thin-skinned, and desperate for approval. He'd fire workers who criticized him, and when he couldn't fire them he'd use his platform to smear or pressure them in some other way (see his reaction to the cave diver).

So while the left and media outlets would criticize him for his record on labor, workplace safety, doing dumb crypto bullshit, etc. he filled his feed with bullshit artists who were willing to flatter his ego like Ian Miles Chong. And inevitably he came to buy in to their bullshit.

"Divorced guy falls into a media rabbit hole and hardens his reactionary beliefs" is not a novel character arc. He just happens to have a lot more money.

All he wants is for people to think he is a good poster, but he's so bad at it, it drives him crazy.
