They had DLC for every lead character seperated by like 3-4 months each between releases. Had a prequel movie tie in with relevant information. Had a youtube anime spin off series with relevant information. Had a manga too I think. Then mulitplayer was added and that had story information and on and on and on. Barely any writing for some of the characters and towards the end of the game they leave out so much to the point where you wonder if you were supposed to see another 20 cut scenes for the point they reach. The main problems it still has are that there's a lot of empty space in the world and that there are some... issues with the story. Otherwise it's still fun. FFXV scrapped and changed everything Nomura had done for the past 8 YEARS and new director Tabata scrambled to complete it in 3. Now it isnt a bad game and there's enjoyment to be found, but its an empty open world and the story there is, is very minimal and rushed and also non sensical. Magic and summons systems were bad. You will never die as long as you have healing items unless you self limit yourself for challenge. I found the game tried to merge open world, with action elements and RPG elements. All 3 of them were mediocre. Then there's the like 3 main character DLC and the Villian DLC. Game is fine now especially since you're getting all that content for 20 or less but goddamn it is a lot to just jump into it if you plan on getting the "full story". If 16 pulls any of this shit I'm going to...do absolutely nothing beyond not playing it lol. There are one or two plot elements where if you zone for even 2 seconds you've missed some pretty crucial details. Otherwise though I thought it was a really good game. The open world isn't used very well, pretty much just very pretty scenery to traverse... the game itself doesn't offer much to do in it outside of fetch quests but thankfully those are pretty much entirely optional. It's the kind of game that benefits from a player with a mindset of just wanting to go through the story. And somehow the supporting cast -- and even major villains -- gets even less than that. ~Clunky combat with a weird magic system, weird summon system, and basically no challenge or difficulty. ~An empty open world with hardly anything to do. I'm saying something like that happens with a character in FFXV but by that point in the game 99% of people were just thinking "ok...... I just don't care anymore".
