Guys this should be appalling to every American regardless of party. The bull crap thats in that bill. Meanwhile, and I know this from the constant griping about money on this board, a lot of you are living paycheck to paycheck. If yall wanna be mad at billionaires thats completely fine and warranted. But be objective and call this out too please. This is your money being spent haphazardly without any care or deliberation.

A quick google search says the budget is 900 billion dollars. I'm asking how long should a bill that distributes that be.

We are in a thread where where someone linked one of the worst senators in the senate putting on a clown show. I'm asking a question and people are avoiding it. How long should the bill be?

Conservatives require short, easy-to-read documents because they're not smart enough to handle the job they've been elected for.

Pity Rand Paul, really. He's doing the absolute best a moron can do.

I genuinely don't understand why they refuse to answer a simple question. They keep saying nonsense like it is self evident, and it's not.

Rand Paul is a joke. An elected official should be sent to congress to govern. Rand has no interest in governing, he just engages in activism for anarchy. Excuse me I think it's popular to call anarchy libertarianism now days. This is the guy who when traitors had control of all 3 branches of government refused to repeal Obamacare because "This bill doesn't kill enough Americans."

Rand Paul is a joke who has no real interest in doing his job. Him having no clue what is in the bill makes sense because he probably refused to participate or was excluded from the deal making because he has no interest in meaningfully contributing to the governing of this nation.

While I agree that a spending bill of that size obviously isn't being read by the people voting on it, and that's kind of a problem, it's not like somebody in some back room somewhere threw together a bunch of random numbers and sent it off to be rubber stamped with no oversight. That bill is the product of numerous rounds of lower government officials conducting analyses and working within their own departments and smaller teams to put together their pieces of the budget, passing through multiple layers of more detailed scrutiny and approval before ultimately coming here for final approval. There is plenty of care and deliberation happening, it's just happening behind the scenes.

If anything, bringing something of that size and complexity to the top like this is stupid, since the vote for approval mostly boils down to "did somebody I like put this together?" and "do the people who voted for me want me to approve things or not?", rather than actually doing anything to assess the content or context. It should really be split into multiple bills and left to multiple departments to handle, with final approval consisting mostly of "each department wants X and has scored Y points on our prioritization algorithm, how should we distribute it?" As it stands, it's pretty much just performative.

If he didn't read it, that is an issue on him and his staff.

This idea that the federal budget just magically appeared with no one knowing what is in it is absolutely insane. I said he put on a clown show because it's exactly what he did, he went up and made disingenuous arguments. He isn't making a legitimate point. And you're putting on a clown show too because you're still refusing to answer how many pages you think a 900 billion dollar itemized budget should be. I'm not asking if you agree with the dollar amount of the budget, I'm asking why you think 4000 pages is unreasonable for it.

Traitors only care about the national debt when democrats are in office. It's nothing but war and slashing taxes when they are in control and then they suddenly care about the debt they rack up when a democrat is in control.

Any politician claiming they have no clue what is in the bill is lying to you or refusing to do their job. You're the troll here citing one of the dumbest fuckers in the senate like he is doing his job.

Yeah, sorry, but I lived with a 'both sides are the problem' guy for two years, and he didn't have shit to suggest for solutions. Unless you count the fact that he said he'd vote for Russel Brand (not a US citizen, and a complete dolt at that) for president.

Democrats are demonstrably far better than Republicans. If over 60 Democrats actually held the House and Senate, nobody would have to deal with bills threatening the lives of women (abortion, hello), gay people (we're allowed to not serve you!) and there'd be far better, if nowhere near ideal taxation of the rich. I'd prefer to see far more principled Leftists in the House and Congress, but at present, around a third of the US population believes in an openly Fascist party. Call Democrats Fascist all you want, they don't hold a fucking candle to the Republicans, and equating them is laughable. Mock Hillary Clinton all you want, but her election would've prevented a Conservative controlled Supreme Court, and millions of women wouldn't be screwed. Sure, Clinton is a neolib goon. Would've beat the alternative. Never would've gotten Jill Stein or Bernie in anyhow. I would prefer Bernie obviously - not Stein who can't even articulate a cogent defense of sitting down for a meal with Mike Flynn and some Putin goons.

It isn't 'partisan' to observe that the outcome under Democrats is far preferable to the outcome under Republicans. If it is actually partisan from your perspective to despise the people that will take away far more rights, then boo-hoo, people are partisan for literally not wanting to be screwed over more.

Also, everyone likes to claim that Democrats had the ability to 'do anything' during Obama's first term. Ah yes, the supermajority that lasted for 72 days.

The only partisan here is you. Both sides is a lie and you know it. The only people who attempt the both sides argument are righties who try to act independent but in reality all they are attempting to do is argue the other side is as bad as they are but they're not as bad as your side. Your side is wrong.

Democrats actually govern, they put forth responsible bills and attempt to fix the problems you're complaining about.

People who are most definitely not deserving of the title the party of Lincoln do not attempt to govern they focus on nonsense, and stripping our rights, and starting wars, and slashing taxes. All they do is increase spending while cutting taxes, intentionally making the problem worse so that they can put themselves into a near perpetual state of running against democrats who have to fix the problems they created.

Trust me they're not missing the point, they're changing the subject. They know they can't argue the original topic so they steer it off on a tangent. The fact that they pile on like an angry mob around here only makes it worse. They help each other dodge questions by ignoring them and instead demanding that you answer theirs to the point of straight up harassment. It doesn't help that most of the mods drink the same Kool-Aid. They'll let them spew some of the most vile insults known to man, but god forbid you dish any back to them. They're like school playground attendants. They'll let you get bullied all day, but the second you swing back, it's off to the principal's office.

Hard to determine with what little context you've provided. Who were they incorrectly referring to as Nazis?

Not to put the cart before the horse, but I have seen on this board from a handful of posters the incorrect assertion that Nazis are solely defined by their participation in and around the events of WWII. It is wrong to think that we cannot apply the Nazi label to those who carry on today espousing the same ideologies, employing the same symbols, regalia, and mannerisms of Nazis from decades ago. Call a spade a spade.

They may be "Neo-Nazis", "white nationalists" etc, but if they're acting the part, then arguing that they aren't "text book Nazis" is an impotent position to take founded on shaky semantics.

That particular occasion was referring to an event where a bunch of Nazis held a rally outside a Turning Point USA convention. That convention was a young americans meeting. Primarily grade school and junior high age kids. There was absolutely no connection between the two events, but some people here wanted to play it off like there was. That was my argument. Don't call a bunch of children Nazis because some assholes decided to show up outside and refused to leave when they were confronted. Because I didn't like them picking on children, the nutjobs here somehow equated that to me defending Nazis.
