Everything is on point. The combat, story, characters, writing etc. Im over 20 hours in and I feel there is lots more to come.

Going to play it again in 1/2hr - 1 hour I was just jamming through something on my PS4 at the moment. I highly recommend the game for jrpg enthusiasts.

I just beat it 100% an hour ago. By endgame agility is so broken if you stack buffs you get 10 turns per character before an enemy even gets the chance to attack.

one thing i absolutely do love is that buffs and status effects actually fucking work, none of this "chance to do X" shit

I didn't realize agility was so useful until more recently. I do tend to have a character or two in rpgs be agility based but in this one I really hadn't bothered. I didn't realize how OP it was. Sienna is my closest to having some extra agility but I think I'll just keep going as is. Smacking "statues" was only fun in City of Heroes hehe 10 turns sounds way too much overkill. I thought that was a glitch that the game creator fixed tbh.

I keep hearing so much praise for it but I havent really looked into it much. What makes it so great? Whats a JRPG you can compare it to?

I know they patched some things but I did the superboss before the final and I don't know what its moves are because it never got a single turn. I'm also playing on hard too so I can only imagine how it would've gone on normal.

i just got it and so far its amazing.

Final Fantasy VI actually though it does a lot of its own things. It does pull inspiration from many classic rpgs, there isn't a combat system really like it out there that I can think of.

I wouldn't agree. You don't balance your attacks with a meter trying to stay in the "sweet spot" also this game can throw curveballs to that idea. I don't want to say too much because of spoilers and it's a new game still that people will probably want to play.

It isn't bad. The pacing is good and the game feels pretty smooth. There are some nice things like the red dots to tell whom you have talked to and little green arrows to show what doors work, but there are also a lot of very un-intuitive things like the enemy health bars that are center-aligned and places that are hard to tell where you can walk.

The character development system is ok but pales in comparison to something like Octopath.

All-in-all it is a nice game; much better than other AAA titles that have come out. I just don't see anything that would lead me to re-play it yet.

It took me some time to realize the health bars were emptying to the center that was a odd choice but after I noticed that and got used to it, it's quaint.

About to start that dang ol' act three and then watch the Nerd talk about Garfield for an intermission (or that was the plan) this is a longer intermission than I intended. Posting just in other topics. I feel like I trivialized normal difficulty after some time just by being obsessive over the reward board hoarding money, finding really good weapons but still I have to pay attention at times.

Anyhow I am posting here so I can get myself through the interlude and give the topic a bump too.

Yeah I've been hearing lots of great things about it. I'll keep it in mind since I've got so many other things I'm playing right now.

Spent $66.59 today for a game that won't show up the mail for months, because @a-c-a-b has never done me wrong.

Thanks for posting this gem. Looks really good. It'll most likely end up sitting on my steam wishlist for awhile tho until I get the steam deck. Like most of my other games.

Ha my bad was when I didn't realize there were symbols next to the drive/heat meter and I was like I don't get this. I just use these buffs and skills to randomly cool down the meter. I was just so focused on the bar alone and if there was yellow text displayed. It worked doing this but I called the system a planned random occurrence early on until I was corrected on the official board.

Appreciate this link. Don't know if it is the greatest game ever yet, but it scratches the itch and has better gameplay than Chained Echoes so far.

I'm really liking the combat because it forces me to not be lazy and just attack, attack, attack every turn like I often end up doing in other turn-based games.

Slowly stumbling through this one tonight, I was making more progress in a different game actually, well I was checking out some other stuff I thought I could do too but I think some of the quests are still locked or too difficult. Anyhow giving this topic another bumpo because it is a great game.

I read that after some more bug fixes patches Matthias Linda is going to start developing a new game plus. I think calling this game the Stardew Valley of jrgps isn't hyperbole. It's impressive. I feel like maybe I could have played it on hard, but I am just sticking to normal despite my obsessive reward board completion and all of the other stuff.

I'm in love with this. Just gone done with the Act III area Shambhala with about 30 hours in it. Not super fond of the crystal system, I pretty much ignore it, but apart from that it's a really slick game with really fun combat.

I just completed it yesterday. Not 100%, but maybe 95% or so. Really great. I think the ending is weird. Not because it's bad, it's just i fucking hate kylian

I am at the start of Act 3. I swear I meant to play it more but I was just fiddling around and doing things, and then yea I didn't make a lot of progress and then I started posting here more and then on Discord. I do have a tendency to get sidetracked in games. And there was this laughable topic on the board here that called it "an impossible game, waste of 25 bucks" which turned into a general social topic for a bit.

It's still running. Maybe I should at least see what the MSQ holds now since I admire how fast some people can complete games it does feel a little crazy to me. I like to smell the roses so to speak and get comfortable. This also doesn't mean just training out battles for experience.

what system are you guys playing it on?

I'm playing it on PC Game Pass! Still on Act 3 tonight. I think I'm near the end of it, Amalia is showing us her family's grave but I'm taking some time out to do side stuff. Especially the board, which I've been semi-ignoring and there's a bunch of stuff on there I can do. Rewards are good.

A lot of RPG YouTubers have been singing its praises for the last few days. I've been meaning to look into it. For now I'll wishlist it and see what happens.

I brought it even if I'm more of a crpg kind of guy, I always have love for SNES and PSX era jrpgs and this one delivers on that front. Nice graphics reminiscent of the SNES, good gameplay, story is decent even if it falls into the pitfalls of viewing war through modern lenses, ancient societies were very war-like in attitude, Ancient Greek writers made the argument that oligarchs would declare war less often than democracies because the people would often vote to go to war. There's arguments that Athens was more of a warrior society than Sparta.

I also like the setting, having other races be a normal part of the setting is always cool like in CT, BoF and LoM but it's interesting that in-universe they're all human which the guy who made the game said.

Funny you made this topic, I actually discovered the game today. I will put it on my wish list and wait for a sale, like I do with every game

It is on Game Pass, so if anyone wants to play it "cheaper" just buy Game Pass on PC.

The fact that people like you refer to THIS as a JRPG is the reason I hate it and will never play it.
