I wasn't going to watch it because while I really enjoyed it visually and liked the world that was built, the story, characters, and cast did less than nothing for me

I support Native American Indian causes, but this seems to be a bit extreme. The message of the franchise is exploiting indigenous people and their land is bad and its just told through the eyes of the white characters.

As a society, we don't really have the capacity to deal with the 10000% valid criticisms from indigenous peoples. Because if we did, we'd hate ourselves. We'd hate anyone who did what we did and despise anyone who did 1/100000th of what we did to them to us.

Honestly, the only times I've seen indigenous people discussed on this website is in relation to them being used as mascots/media caricatures and being told to stop complaining about that or when their lands are actively being destroyed by pipelines.

Lmao STARS. If we're gonna be pedantic there's like two actual STARS in this movie and they're Zoe Saldana and Sigourney Weaver. But let's disregard that a good chunk of the cast are native american or have other indigenous heritage.

All of the PoC characters, or the vast majority of them, are good and there's a bunch of them lol and the movie is specifically about white colonialism, not Japanese colonialism. You're asking for a completely different movie.

Avatar is 100% anti-western colonialism and anti-MIC, it makes complete sense for the bad guys to be mostly white and the good guys to be mostly non-white.

Sam Worthington's character literally sheds his whiteness in order to fight for the people that saved him. I think him being white is actually pretty damn important. And, again, the movie is specifically about western colonialism. You're asking for a different movie. Cameron specifically made all the major bad guys white on purpose.
