You just know that many women have chosen not to speak their minds because they felt like they would be called a Karen, even when they really had a point. Videos like those are doing more to encourage women to keep quiet.

There's a difference between "speaking your mind" and aggressively punching down at service workers, or calling the cops on minorities for existing while not being white.

To Random Redditor, it's not hard to not be a Karen.

At the same time, I feel like most Karens would be incapable of realizing they are a Karen or could even potentially be labeled as a Karen. And in the slim chance that they could recognize it, they would want to speak with your manager about it.

If it's a reasonable complaint then you will not be called a Karen for it. This just forces people to choose their battles instead of acting like an asshole over things that don't matter or pertain to them

Karen is definitely another one to throw on the pile of words the internet misused and abused. Now it basically just means any white woman I disagree with.

Has any of them ever said "I am Karen. Im Karen about my community!". It's dumb, but it would be funny in the middle of a confrontation

I heard those, but I never seen them stick. I heard Karen when referring to men way more than any alternative

I feel like these are two different things that got lumped under one umbrella. To me only the former really qualifies.

Though the mainstream adoption of the term means it often gets used in absence of context whenever a woman gets mad in a discussion. And that has some deep rooted history in misogyny...but like, c'mon. That's nowhere near the dominate use of the term, so it makes me wonder how they were exposed to it that they feel like they see themselves in danger from such a label.
