It was terribly paced, and then would veer off into wild side plots that were often never really resolved in any satisfactory way. Then it sort of abruptly ends, leaving a ton of threads hanging. Had the games not come along to actually provide closure to the story it would have been worse.

The changes in the show are worse than the source material, and it looks like it'll get a whole lot worse...the books not being the greatest doesn't mean the show writing is any better. In fact the very best parts of the Netflix show are all due to Henry fighting against the show writers.

Doesn't bother me either, I broadly agree with this. But it's easy to see how someone in Cavill's position, being a fan of the books/games and being the big draw of the show, would try his best to change things. And it's easy to see how the crew would be very annoyed at what they would perceive to be derailing efforts.

Of course they can, but generally in any sort of collaboration it's in everybody's best interests to work together and compromise. You're not going to get the best performance out of an actor if you just treat him like some kind of object to be placed wherever you want to do whatever you want, especially if that actor has deep expertise in the subject matter of the movie or show. Similarly, there's no incentive for that actor to go out of their way to promote the material if they don't believe in it.

They can of course. It's just that he's the star of the show. Look at how much people are losing interest in it now that he announced his departure. So the power balance between stars and showrunners is always tricky.

Most of the stuff he fought against was not only uneccesary sexual acts he didn't want to partake in, but scenes which universally sound ten times more horrible than the changes he fought for. And he isn't even alone on this, someone unrelated talked about this stuff on The Witcher show months ago after they left, and how the writer hated the IP and the whole fanbase and actively ridicule it.

Like the showrunner and he couldve worked it out. Hes been a pioneer for the witchers story to be as true to the books as possible. The more i read about how he was behind the scenes and what happened in the show shows how far the showrunners tried to make the witcher not the story of the witcher. I open to the showrunners changes because of cavill tbh. But what we got after 1 season was a bit too much. There was nearly no compromise from the books and show adaptation. Now we have blood origin and cavill out in season 4?? The cataclysm better be explained through & through.

Yea, that gamer language while trying to explain a game adaptation to people blindly adapting it while he has some knowledge of it. He was probably explaining to somoene that Geralt can't shoot a Quen sing out of his penis. Maybe he told them Igni doesn't work like laser eyes, who knows.

Good for him for leaving the show. He was the only character on it I liked so now the show is as good as dead, I highly doubt knock off Thor will be able to do it justice. Liam is too pretty and not growly enough to be a convincing Geralt.
