Honest to god, the kotaku in action/gamergate group of gamers are basically video game qanon but with viyda and misogyny instead of racism and conspiracy.

I wish I could even say those people are a minority of 'gamers' but like lol

Again, there's no denying that gaming culture has issues (as does literally any other hobbyist group, like gun nuts)

It's almost like they want it to fail, which is a distinct possibility given all that they've said and done.

I saw Henry Cavil at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didnt want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.
He said, Oh, like youre doing now?
I was taken aback, and all I could say was Huh? but he kept cutting me off and going huh? huh? huh? and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Controllers in his hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like Sir, you need to pay for those first. At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the controllers and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually to prevent any electrical infetterence, and then turned around and tossed a coin to me. I dont even think thats a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

Lol.

Season 2 of the witcher was starting to drift into "adaption made by people who clearly resent the material they are adapting" territory and I don't at all blame someone who apparently really liked the witcher not wanting to deal with people doing the shit they did.

Not really interested in parsing the logic of something that's clearly a hoax, but I will say that's...not exactly what it's saying, either. It's trying (and failing) to describe a pattern of behavior and supporting traits that support their conclusions. It's not going 'lol all gamers are manchildren' and it's bizarre to watch such a level of defensiveness play out as people talk about this hoax.

^People get defensive because saying video games cause a negative influence is such a tired argument, which stems all the way back to the 90s with Mortal Kombat and similar games.

I'd get that if that's what it was actually saying, but it isn't though. If anything the hoax gives itself a pale veneer of legitimacy by clearly discussing a subgroup, and where an obsessive person can fall into said subgroup with relative ease.

But I'm frustrating myself, because giving a hoax this much attention to detail is such a futile exercise.
