She had an onlyfans on the side obviously.

Unless she worked at some famous hair saloon, or got money in a divorce (not even just the house), you could pretty much never afford that on the salary of a hair salon, at least not in the era of sticom shows. Maaaaaybe if you go back to happy days time it was possible, but by the 80's good freaking luck.

In the late 80's early 90s, my best friend tried to get a condo, and eventually did, but it took 2 salaries to pay the mortgage and fees, and they eventually ended up loosing it. Sitcoms are bullshit, it was never that freaking easy.

When I was 19....waaaaaaay back in the stone ages (early 90's), min wage was $5 an hour and a 1 bedroom apartment was 500-600 (but you could get a 2 bedroom for $600 as well). What we all did was rent a 2 bedroom, turn the living room into another bedroom and split it 3 ways ($200 each).

Right now you can do the exact same thing from 400-600 (renting a room mind you), often even getting your own bathroom in the deal (last 3 places I lived were $500 (no private bath), $400 (shared bath with 1 other person) and currently 575 (whole basement with private bath and living room).

With min wage being 15$ an hour, it's actually WAY easier, and cheaper to rent a room then it was back in the late 80's early 90's. Renting an apartment has also not trippled in cost in most areas, even if it is up to 1000-1200 for a 1 bedroom most places (it was $600 back then and min wage was 1/3rd of what it is now).

That isn't even taking into account how much the internet and technology helps with stuff today, so much free entertainment, the ability to get significant savings when shopping with digital coupons etc.

Heck even food, even with the huge inflation recently still is not 3x as much or even close after digital coupons at safeway (usually save over 40%, rarely more then 50% now but still happens sometimes. You could hunt for physical coupons back in the day, but digital takes like 3 minutes before you go shopping.

Some things are certainly harder, but alot is waaaaay easier, and I rarely see anyone do what I did anymore (work a full time job graveyward while going to school full time). That was fairly common back then, but much less common now.

I do agree that education costs have gotten insane, but they already where when I went to college about 10 years ago. Graduated with a masters in 2015 with 60k in debt even though I worked while going to college. That was already bad enough but it has gotten worse. Education/medical expenses are just freaking insane, the rest......it's never been great if your making anywhere near min wage, and even when I was making 2-3x min wage, I was still making less then half of my friends and was the only one who saved anything at all. Of 50 19-24 year olds, I saved 50% of my income, and nobody else saved a freaking dime lol (this was in early 90's).

Life sucks if your poor, it sucks more if your young and poor and have no parents/people supporting helping you. That hasn't changed. In fact, what has changed is alot more parents allow their kids to live with them longer. The internet makes hooking up with others to live together easier than ever before, and you can often make a decent wage remotely in many fields (often allowing you to make significantly more then min wage in places where it's still 7.50 because you get a remote job from another state). Wyznt for instance lets you be a remote tutor anywhere, you need basic elementary level skills, and you can charge what you want (Most charge $20/hr), with them taking 25% of the profits. $15 an hour sounds horrid, but it's from home, you schedule the times, and you can do it anywhere (as long as you have internet access).
