Daughter of the Dark God is 4/10 bad. The One They Call the Witch is a 10/10 track. If you can understand why I feel this way, please tell me. I'd like to know. I can hear the similarities, yet they feel nothing like each other to me. It'd be like saying two songs that share a motif are "the same." Best I can give you is that DotDG is lacking gravitas, atmosphere, a je ne sais quois weight that TOTCtW nails. Shoutouts to the localization team, though -- "daughter" is a wonderfully concise way of handling the literal "one who bears the blood of the dark god."

P2:IS's OP fits the in-game animation perfectly. I don't think it stands on its own very well, without the poem.Though I still picked it here so.

It's unfortunate that Ecco got cut from the bracket with 11 votes, but that made it an easy snubs pick for me over Oninaki. I've had Marble Sea saved for the longest time without remembering how I found it, and am glad I finally gave the full soundtrack a listen so I could share it here!

poor dark god. if i remember right, it was the first song to go up against any of my murasaki noms in vgmc and i'm still surprised it failed to win then. probably said some harsh things about it then because mainstream game popular song etc but i really don't mind it. Unfortunately as far as mainstream game popular song here goes, yeah corridors of time is kinda... rough to face

soft collision is also hecking good though i don't really mind plague ghost losing here tbh even though it is also my favourite song today and that is way higher praise than you'd expect (or maybe not if you see the other remarks)

holy this match is actually evil what the fuck. PS1 persona 2 IS' opening movie is specifically my favourite persona opening period yes i know i'm the only person with this opinion ever probably. marble sea... yeah, i'll say it, i do like it more than just the song for IS opening, it's way too good, but i can't just not pick its opponent given the full context

i feel like i did an anti-tsunami if anything by not only listening to the song on its own but also rewatching the opening video

I think Octopath and Bravely Default song titles are just blending together for me, I could've sworn Daughter was an end-game theme for the latter somehow.

As for match 2, my heart's with MSF, but I really like what Senko no Ronde has given me.

Match 1 is evil. Daughter of the Dark God is not one of my favorites from Octopath so the choice is easy, but these are both OST's I would be completely happy to see win the contest.

Dont think there were many outcomes that involved me voting CT over Octopath, but here we are I guess. No real tough decisions today.

Corridors of Time is great as always. Daughter of the Dark God is also really good. The mix of the strings, vocals, and e-guitar/drums makes a really good combo (though it can be pretty bad if poorly executed). Think I'm leaning Dark God this time.

Soft Collision has great synths. Fun EDM song with a fun melody. The vocoder is pretty neat as well. Plague Ghost is pretty neat too. I like the synths more in Soft Collision though, so I'll go with that one.

Opening has some really nice piano, and the vocals add a pretty cool aura to the piece as well. The sudden shift to a more upbeat piece is interesting, but not bad. Good song. Time Forgotten is pretty nice with its ambient effects, though it's probably my least favorite song of the day.

Very solid all-around day.
