They've got a right idea, considering how electoral votes end up determining who wins anyway.

Telling their party to just not vote anymore is pretty funny though.

To be fair, its hard for voting to represent the will of the people when theres basically only 2 major candidates per election thats viable, and what more those 2 leading candidates arent even there because they were picked by the people but because the party establishment pushed them to be there. With choices like this for voting its no wonder our government sucks off corporations and the ultra wealthy instead of addressing the needs of their base.

Yet even this has not been enough for the leftist oligarchy. Trumps election in 2016 scared the establishment into taking even more extreme measures to prevent unacceptable electoral outcomes. Which leads to the latest antidemocratic development.

This new reality became even clearer this month. The highly manipulative practice of ballot harvestingwhich reached new lows of cynicism in the recent midtermsmakes a mockery of elections as an expression of popular deliberation and rational will. As Daniel Greenfield has written, the Democrats didnt beat back the red wave because the voters chose them; they won by choosing their voters. It is hard to see how elections under these circumstances are substantially different from the artificial voting rituals practiced by the peoples republics, i.e., communist regimes of the 20th century.

Remove electoral college and base presidential elections solely on popular vote. Remove the Senate, expand the House. Replace House districts with proportional representation.

Hey, looks like that old Frum quote is coming to pass.

"If conservatives become convinced that they cannot win democratically, they will not abandon conservatism, they will abandon democracy."

I just read an article on a new legal scholastic philosophy called "common good constitutionalism" which is basically legislating from the bench to implement actions without cause for whether "the freedom of the individual" is being affected.

If you read the subtext of the article it's not "let's not vote" it's we are going to have to fight to return to the original meaning of the constitution which is "only rich white people get to vote".

And yes @Questionmarktarius the house should be expanded. Every ten years after the census the state with lowest amount of people becomes base 1. It gets assigned one rep in the house. Every other state gets reps based on that. Wyoming is the lowest with 580,000 people so 580,000 becomes the number by which reps are assigned and will get one. California has the most with 39.24 million. Thus it will get 67 or 68 depending on if you want to round up or down. Yes this proportionately advantages states with large populations. No I don't care. Empty land doesn't get to fucking vote. Quite frankly the Senate should be done similarly. States with over X amount of people get 2 Senators and below get 1. This keeps the original intention of the Senate of keeping things relatively equal in the upper house without allowing states with 1/67th the population of larger states to be on the same level.

The criticism is because of one thing. The higher the vote turnout the worse it is for the GOP. That's why they've gone all in on voter suppression as a strategy. Specifically vote harvesting is bad for them because helping people to vote usually involves helping to enfranchise people that they've specifically worked to disenfranchise and thus are extremely unlikely to vote for the GOP.
