I'm one of the people that want a sequel. The game was fun as hell and the hordes were awesome. Especially the ones that caught me by surprise. I just turn and see 50+ zombies running at me

The stinger was great too. Would love to see where the story goes.

Honestly, I do have a problem with the protagonist, and it is because he's the exact same generic self-insert gruff badass protagonist we've been getting for decades. No one serious has a problem with protags just because they're straight white males, it's because they're the SAME straight white male we've always got. I mean hell, Joel from The Last of Us is a straight white male and he's universally beloved to the point that half of the gaming turns their nose up at the sequel because he died. You can write a straight white male protag, just don't write the same non-person we've always got and you'll be fine.

Besides, some of the best reviewed games of 2019, the year Day's Gone came out, had white male protags. Jedi: Fallen Order, Disco Elysium, Metro Exodus, Fire Emblem, Luigi's Mansion, Death Stranding, and Link's Awakening all had white male protags, and no one complained. Why, even when some might be generic or non-characters? Because the actual games were good. Maybe when your game is riddled with bugs at launch people are more likely to be unforgiving to the other parts of the game that are lacking, like a boring MC.

The game was awesome and gets a lot of unfair criticism imo. Game deserved a sequel.

Yep. He should blame the Sony execs, not the fans. Sony didn't feel the sales numbers were good enough to green light the sequel, and felt that it would be better for Bend Studios to assist with other games that were in development.

The game itself looked generic and uninteresting, which is why I never touched it.

Google says the game sold about 9 million copies, which is super good for an exclusive that's also a new IP.

Sales are not the same as profits. They could have spent enough that even with 9 million copies they didn't actually make a relevant profit (though if they made no profit with that amount of base then they likely did something illegal).

Yet nothing you said actually changes what I did. A random quest not functioning in a reasonable manner is annoying, but not damning. Massive lag and constant crashes is. Taking six months to get a fix is a problem for players, but it means absolutely nothing in a day 1 review. Reviewers aren't doing 100% runs of the game, that is something that players do. Similarly utterly random bugs like floating cutlery is something that a player will experience but a game reviewer isn't going to have the time to just throw random crap around on the off chance of there being a bug.

The PS3 version of Skyrim literally became unplayable because of the file save size. This was a huge issue, and is not the only situation of a Bethesda game being designed and programmed terribly. I literally watched Fallout 3 destroy my friends PS3.

Eichner blamed straight people for not going to see it, which is actually kinda true since straight people make up the vast majority of the population.

Whether or not it's because of a lack of "wokeness" is another issue.

You seem to be extremely confused. The entire point of my line was that there was no way for reviewers to actually find any damning bugs in the same line as with Days Gone, not that there was literally nothing at all wrong with a given Bethisda game. The file size issue did not have any real chance of showing up in a review because reviews are made considerably earlier than that bug could show up, and the same is true in Fallout 3. Something that could qualify as something that would have mattered was the one rock in Oblivion that crashed the game by walking near it, but IIRC it only became an issue on the release version of the game.

Mine was broken by 20 hours so I would hope a reviewer could play a Bethesda game for 20 hours to review it, or they are just garbage at it. Perhaps you just never played PS3 version of their games but they were often just completely busted up from the jump. Stuff reviewers constantly joke about with Bethesda releasing buggy ass games, that stuff doesn't come out of nowhere.

Of course, if a higher percentage of people in the LGBTQ community had seen it, it still would have made a lot more money. Considering how little it made, even people in the community didn't give it enough of a chance. And it's a shame too because it was a very funny movie. The problem is romantic comedies don't sell today unless they have a major star, and unfortunately Billy is not one no matter how much I like him. I did see the movie in the theater by the way (I'm straight).

i saw an ad for it on queerty and an episode of big brother
and thats it
most people didnt know this movie existed
and the little promotion it did have didnt talk about how hilarious it apparently was but rather just focused on it being the first mainstream gay rom com even though love simon existed and was successful

20 hours may not be a long time for a Bethisda game, but reviewers don't get variable lengths to make their reviews. So just because you get nowhere in a Bethisda game in 20 hours means jack in this context. Especially since you are talking about something with an arbitrary length of time before happening and the 20 hours is just your experience.

Quite. They also spend enormous amounts of time on things that gamers don't necessarily do in the vice-versa. For instance, while gamers might go out of their way to see scenic vistas a reviewer will spend copious amounts of time looking for good screenshots/video segments. People get far too much of a chub when it comes to reminding people that the one Cuphead reviewer exists and ignore the fact that there is inherently an extreme difference between them and a reviewer in terms of just how much time and effort they can put into their experience.

No idea what he said since the tweet's gone, but I enjoyed Days Gone. Surprised myself, considering how many bad things I heard about it. I suppose it's mostly the annoying characters and dialogue that let the proceedings down, 'cause the human-vs.-human combat mixed with zombies everywhere was pretty enjoyable. Doing those hordes/raids where it's just you versus several hundred zombies was pulse-pounding to be sure. When I heard that there wouldn't be a sequel, I did get a smidgen sad, 'cause this could be a great franchise, cultural zombie fatigue nonwithstanding.

Having to constantly gas up your bike sucked, too, but on the bright side, you can use BB from Death Stranding as an unlockable component, so there's that.

A generic zombie game that came out years after the zombie games craze was over wasn't a smashing success. I am shocked.

I thought the game was good, especially that horde mode you could do for bonuses that carried over to the main game. Trying to get the highest possible score in those was a lot of fun.

I liked Deacon the game was Sons of Anarchy meets Walking Dead I really enjoyed it. The main character was cool wasnt even worried about his color

Days Gone isn't a bad game, it's worse: it's overwhelmingly mediocre. I'd rather play a bad game than a game that is just on the cusp of delivering what it promises, but constantly falling short. The main gameplay loop hooked me, but anything beyond that was the dictionary definition of tedium.

Short forced walk > cutscene > short forced walk > long forced ride > short forced walk > cut scene > long forced walk > cutscene.

I have just described an entire mission. Seriously. If you've played it, you probably know the exact mission I'm thinking of.
