Well this happen? Probably not, but I would like to gather my thoughts throughout this topic on the games I will be playing through. My goal is not to buy any more Steam games until I am more than halfway through this. Some exceptions. For instance I'll for sure pick up Persona 5 Royal at some point if it's on a great sale, and secondly I'm not waiting on the Resident Evil 4 remake.

Steam says I have 311 games. I have completed probably less than 10% of that. I have a new GPU so why not now.

Currently playing; Elden Ring, Final Fantasy VII Remake intergrade and Ring of Pain.

Elden Ring: I have actually already beaten this a few times, and have all the achievements. Playing to make a faith build where I can just leave alone once finished so I have a good character to have for the inevitable DLC/Expansion. My other character is like on NG++++ so I don't want to do the DLC at that junction.

Final Fantasy VII Remake intergrade: Currently on chapter 8. Game is quite fun. I do have a bit of weird complaint. Not a fan of the forced slowdown. I hate this in any game. I get it's for cinematic feel, but its pretty constant so far whether it's slowing down in order to have the squad chat, slowdown that leads into a cutscene, or even just stuff like being so slow to get a cross a small ledge, jump or whatever. I dunno, I am losing track of time when I do play because it is a great game, but it feels like it happens a lot. Maybe my perspective is off.

Ring of Pain: Card based combat game. I still haven't beaten it 10 hours in, and its a bit more luck based(at least if feels that way or I have no grasp of what to do in this game). It feels like the first few rounds depending on what items you get to equip within those said rounds are a huge determining factor on whether or not you are gonna die right away. And you can die fast. Game is addicting if you can string a few good runs, but also wants me to only play for 10 20 minutes at a time if I constantly die right away.

Ideally I would like to be playing 3 different games at any time unless one really, really is holding my attention. What is completion? I'm aiming to get the majority of achievements in these games, but I'll set that aside for games that either don't have any, or if they have some super tedious ones that has no benefit other than it says you did it and you can show people. Otherwise I expect completion in this sense to mean, credits have rolled and any post game content was beaten or attempted.

Good luck. I told myself I might gather my wits and try something like this come the new year. I see no reason to try before the holiday sales season because it'll just get derailed.

Its also weirdly enough my pick up and play comfort game. Some days I just want to sit and play something I am familiar with.

I mean I dont die nearly as much compared to a blind play through but I like just running around and messing around. Actually came across a couple things I never found out about in my other play through so thats always fun.

Update: I have found out on Ring of Pain that investing into defense and freezing enemies is a solid strategy moving forward.

Ring of Pain: Apparently I've been choosing the wrong ending(the harder one) this whole time, just beat it by choosing the other option and unlocked new difficulty.

FFVII Remake:

These chapter 9 arm "puzzles" suck ass and is incredibly boring. I don't know why this game is so intent on killing the pace. Gimme more Cloud acting like a normal human.

I'm thinking of trying something similar, but there are so many long games in that backlog of mine lol.

The Witcher 3, a bunch of Assassin's Creed games, all three Dragon Age's, Skyrim, etc.

And also playing through Elden Ring, though currently only on the first playthrough. Very much love it!

Where you at in Elden Ring? It's an instant classic of a game for me, and is my favorite From game. I also have a ton of long games I haven't even touched, or about halfway in. However I do have a ton of shorter games too.

FFVII Remake is starting to pick up for me, as in I'm spending a lot more time with it. I love the combat system, and getting more time in Midgar, and the extra time with the main cast is fun. Like I mentioned earlier the biggest issue is just pacing, and 'forced' "Hey let's take it slow here for the next few seconds to a minute", that's a minor nitpick at the end of the day though.

FFVII Remake:

Into the sewers we go. The Honeybee and Don Corneo section was very entertaining. I was woefully wonder prepared for Abzu though. I managed to scrap by. Story is really starting to pick up though.

I normally play as Cloud, but playing as Aerith and Tifa is also very fun.

Depends lol. Gotta go back and finish Siofra and the Moonlight Altar, though technically, I'm right outside of Leyndeyll. So, don't really have a one place answer haha.

FF7R was awesome, loved almost all of it. Tifa was actually my favourite playable character, but changing every 5-10 seconds was important to take the attention of the enemies to a different character.

FF7Remake-Shinra section is pretty slow, not really liking it so far. Little too far, it's just ok. Other than some story beats it's been a rough past couple of hours. I don't think the color palette of this section is helping either. Not a fan. Hurts my eyes.

FF7Remake-Main story defeated. Now to finish unlocking and completing everything.

Quick thoughts; Game was fun. They somehow only made the Midgar section into a 30+ hour story adventure...and that wasn't always a good thing. Complained about it already, but the forced slowdown sections, weird unskippable transitions(especially bad in the final fight)-walk a few steps-cutscene and/or dialogue section-repeat again. It totals up to atleast a couple hours of just being forced to be slow. When the game is firing on all cylinders with the gameplay and battle while going through story beat to story beat the game is awesome. Shame it hampers that so often.

That's really my only complaint.

Also been trying to pick up where I left on Persona 4 Golden to prevent me from buying and getting into Persona 5 Royal, but it keeps crashing after a transition screen, and it's random so that make it worse. Seems to be an issue with my new GPU. So if I ever get that figured out I'll be mostly switching from wrapping up the post game stuff in FF7 and finishing up Persona 4 Golden(I'm on 09/01).

Nice!

My main complaint about FF7R was the ghosts but who knows, maybe there's a pay off. Loved the battle system and a bunch of other stuff with the game. Got it on launch, and since the lockdowns had just started, I was able to hammer through it in not that long of a period of time.

Still can't fix this issue...and I really want to play it now. In the mood for Persona. Especially because I don't know what exactly is next. Beaten the original, but this is my first time through Golden.

Both of these bugged me a lot too, but I also didn't like the combat so overall didn't enjoy the game very much. I did like how they fleshed out the characters though.

Still not sure how I feel about the inclusion of Marie. I don't get her purpose...being here. Maybe it will make more sense near the end or once she is maxed out too.(At 5 currently).

Decided to play Limbo because I'm in the mood for something relatively short. I have no idea how I feel about this game. Well, I do. I like it so far for kind of a trail and error type of puzzle platformer. I personally like trial and error games that force you to use your surroundings and awareness to figure out how to move forward in the game.

My main two problems, granted are nitpicky. As much as like the aesthetic and artstyle it does some what cause it to be confusing on what you are supposed to do. I took me a few tries to realize I had to move a log into the water to escape/make it across, but it wasn't explicit until I figured I would try it out. Game does a good job and subverting some expectations on how to solve a puzzle, but then it also throws it out the window on the next one. The first Pressure point puzzle for instance makes it look like it if you press a switch it will drop down-it doesn't- you need to avoid the block-but then the very next puzzle-same premise- but this time avoid the block/switch.

The game does a good job of kind of showing you through just paying attention on how to solve certain puzzles, but other ones it's just dumb. I don't want to say it's not fair because this whole game kind of revolves around you figuring it out by dying. The pressure point one was just stupid.

Other than that fun game! Ill probably move onto another one of the shorter games which will probably be another 2D platformer.

Cuphead update: Have 4/6 P's and need two more A's on the third island.

Have a few souls like games that I haven't finished yet so I'll probably move onto one of those, which include Code Vein (Got a few hours in but the game got boring), The Surge 2 (Not sure why I stopped playing this) and Nioh. Nioh is by far the furthest I'm in, so I'll probably just hop back on to that one.

Cuphead beated. 27/28 achievements from the base game. Only one left is "Beat The Devil At His Own Game"-Which I think is just beating all the bosses on Expert?

I will probably go back at some point and get that one too, but only after I decide to buy and play the DLC. Very fun game, not super hard after getting the hang of it, but it definitely isn't super friendly for beginners. I think the game gets a bit easier once you have access to all the powers/charms/guns ect.

Moving onto Nioh, and some longer games now. May play another of the many 2D games while playing Nioh. Probably going to restart from the beginning on Nioh. Don't remember too much from it other than that I did enjoy my time with it previously.

Thanks! At this rate I'll be done by 2035.

Decided not to restart Nioh because I was 20+ hours in already. Don't remember anything about the story, but I picked up the gameplay and got used to it pretty quickly. Still hard!

Nioh is a lot longer than I thought. I'm really enjoying it though, easily one of the better souls like copy cats out there. Though from what I know of Nioh 2 I think I would enjoy that more. I know I'm like 2-3 missions away from the last one from the base game, but I have the complete edition, which I think includes the DLC stuff.
