Yeah that was the reaction I had at first too. But the age kept going up while the kids got smaller. So i was like ah I get it lol.

I have 8 siblings myself, have aunts and uncles on both sides who had families of a similar size, and have met a few dozen people in support groups for people of large families. Feeding, clothing, and sheltering kids is absolutely important but is just one part of caring for them. Kids need a lot of individual attention and when you have that many of them, it's almost impossible to adequately, evenly, and fairly distribute it.

And that's something that obviously changes depending on a family's individual circumstances but I've met people all across the socioeconomic spectrum who have tons of baggage, resentment, and trauma from their parents having too damn many kids. That actually helped me get over my shit because we were poor and I used to think that if we just had more money, a bigger house, a bigger car, things would've been fine. They would've been better in some aspects, sure, but all my biggest problems would've remained because there really are some things that money can't fix.

Anyway, all this isn't to say that it's impossible to do well in a situation like this or that this couple is failing, but it is a very tall task, one I don't have a lot of confidence that people parading their kids around for attention on TikTok are up to. In my experience, they're most likely the ones who don't realize how their kids have been affected.

I don't understand people that do this.

This isn't the olden days, you don't need them to help out on the farm and half of them aren't going to die of disease or whatever. People had kids back then for practical reasons is all I'm saying. Having 9 kids as a choice in this day and age is honestly bizarre af to me.

Ummm yea women actually do get high from the way babies smell. There's also some chemical shit that releases after pregnancy that makes them forget how painful labor was.

Coworker of mine has 3 with a 4th on the way. Talk about overwhelming.

She's got some grays happening by 28.

I know lots of people start graying and losing early.

But, my point is we ALL would if we had 9 kids before 30.

Probably just down to poor impulse control in all probability, I know a few big-ass families and that's usually the sense I get. Most of them don't believe in birth control either so what are ya gonna do, the pull-out method ain't 100% \_()_/
