I'm only saying this because it's in a language she doesn't understand, in a place that she will never read, but...

honestly I'm blown away by the fact that someone who plays video games for a living could take more than five hours to get past the Pursuer. also, hasn't she beaten Dark Souls and other games? but she still doesn't seem to understand how to utilize enemy recovery timing?

I swear I never stop being surprised at how streamers are able to brute force through difficult games without ever learning how to play them. I guess maybe it comes with the nature of splitting your attention between chat and the game? I don't know.

That Miko stream of Super Mario World the other day was rough for similar reasons. Just doing the same wrong things over and over for hours

the biggest thing I see with classic Mario is the inability to hold down the run button

so many of the clips I've seen, they basically walk at default speed the entire time, and never utilize the physics of running to build momentum for bigger jumps.

Their worst gamers are downright bad, but they make up for it by being great entertainers, or skilled at non-gaming stuff.

At least Aqua and Botan's gaming creds seem legit enough.
Aqua was speedrunning From games, and Botan while not trying very hard is usually better than most.

Yeah, I appreciate skilled gaming, but if it's something I really want to see I'll go watch a speedrun or something instead of a vtuber. Also how I feel about karaoke and...most vtuber things, honestly. I'm there to be entertained and hang out with somebody interesting or fun, it's just a bonus if they're actually good at the thing.

you also have the opposite like Aster whose generally pretty good at video games but gets so focused he goes silent regularly for prolonged periods of time which makes it quite boring .
or Moona who generally isn't very good at video games but still gets so focused she goes all silent regularly.

Koyori 24 hour stream is not something I will ever watch in full, but the clips coming out are solid.

(this guy's the surviving member of a 2 person virtual band (the other one died in a fishing accident) and changed quite a lot since then while trying to find himself, handle depression etc. this video really feels like a testament to how he has lived, it is overwhelming yet beautifully powerful. also he's a pretty good trance composer ngl)

Eh, 'everyone' is a bit of an exaggeration. Even then, joining Vshojo is a good way to let people know what her new persona is and if the contract ends up being no good down the line, she can just walk away with all of her IP. Seems like a win-win.

I saw someone mention about how vshoujo only seems to recruit people who are already famous (especially the JP branch) and doesn't really do anything to actually promote talent or lift up the industry as a whole

any thoughts on that?

I don't really follow vshoujo but I'm unaware of an argument to the contrary

Perhaps if someone saw Vshojo as the most prominent example of a western 'vtuber company' and was trying to directly compare it to one of the big Japanese ones, but really they're very different business models. Vshojo is closer to a talent management company for established indie vtubers than something like Hololive or Nijisanji that takes more obscure content creators and hires them to stream with company owned models, and as far as I'm aware I don't think they've ever tried to pretend they were the latter. They're very prominent in promoting their talents online and at conventions as well.

I saw him a lot at all the vtuber panels, I think in the vtubing 101 panel's Q&A he went up to the mic and the talents jokingly called security lol

he also hosted Cottontail & Vexoria's adult panel, then today saw him in the back with glowsticks at vtuber karaoke

which btw holy crap impressed me from the jump with bkbk tomoko, then Anime North Idol's own Yumemi turned vtuber with some great stage presence cheering on the crowd her call & responses, then oh wow Nana Asteria's visuals astounded me. I had no idea a vtuber performance could look so good, I thought it was an FMV at first until the banter between songs!

What's up with this ongoing drama with animation for Indie Vtuber projects?

The TLDR is that a guy who used to work at the animation studio that made Gura's lore video, got fired and made his own animation studio, then completely mishandled it, broke NDAs, missed deadlines and is accused of embezzling funds. Saruei and Bao are the biggest victims, but he also had dealings with Vienna, Captain Hannah, girl_dm_, Geega, and Nemu.
