Been about a decade since I last took a crack at it, wanting ro get something made within the next year here.

Also is it still super beneficial to go full custom, or can you typically get something pre-made that's just fine.

Their customer service is apparently horrible so I would say no.

newegg still puts out some of the cheapest prices.

With GPU market no longer insane it is again cost-efficient to build you own PC.

Newegg customer service is shit but there aren't a lot of alternatives regardless.

I'm not looking to go insane here. Like, pre-built stuff I'm seeing like $1000 and there's must no way.

Like if I wanna get crazy I'd wanna be able to run Switch games on this thing, don't know what the benchmark for getting that going is though, maybe that would actually require something super powerful/expensive.

Pretty much any actual PC exclusive I would care about is gonna be visual novel tier stuff.

Newegg customer service is the reason I dont buy from them any more. Sent me wrong parts and as the biggest fucking hassle to get the right parts and the others sent back to them.

I've had good experiences with them. And they certainly do things others don't, like check returned items to see if they work before reselling them.

I didn't have problems exchanging motherboards twice even though the second was my fault for not realizing I needed a GPU with my CPU (which led me to remove the latter and melt two pins along the edge).

No idea how Switch emulation works, but definitely build your own for that.

Switch emulation has improved drastically over the past few years. My PC's total value is probably like $600~ and it's way stronger than a Switch.

I know building is supposed to be cheaper, but I've had such bad experiences with customer service from newegg/etc. when buying/needing to replace/etc. individual parts that now I just wait until sales on prebuilt. A few years ago I actually got a better prebuilt for cheaper than I could have built myself due to crypto running up the price on certain parts or whatever.
