How do you like yours?

I like mine simple, green onions, butter, sharp cheddar, sour cream, salt, and pepper.

I put pretty much everything you mentioned except I also do bacon. Ive heard of people putting chili on them too which I might try at some point.

Now Ill get stuff for baked potatoes when I go shopping this week. Yum yum.

I love bacon by itself but I don't like bacon in stuff.

Chili is okay too as long as its more of a "meaty" chili. Also BBQ pulled beef or pork is great too.
There is a place in Houston, not sure if its still open, that would make two potatoes look like one big one with pulled beef BBQ, mean that was so good.

Bacon can be a bit rich, so I get what you mean. Sometimes I do the fancy bacon bits if Im lazy or feeling something simpler.

Yea, maybe with some pinto and kidney beans but not much else I think.

Also that sounds amazing. Theres a place near me that does pulled brisket chili on top of mac and cheese and its so good. They do other stuff like pulled pork and pickled onions too which is awesome.

I miss Houston BBQ, San Antonio is meh. The most popular BBQ place here only has "pulled BBQ" which is just the BBQ they didn't sell off yesterday. So its almost always 90% turkey. Blah.

Thats annoying. Im in the PNW so BBQ is generally rare but what Ive had has been the best outside of the south. Granted thats not much but still.

Yeah, good BBQ is hard to come by. Even in the south. We have a chain place here called Bill Millers, which it often popular with 10+ cars in the drive through and honestly I have no idea why.

I mean for one thing they truck in all the cooked meat in all the stores in the morning. So when you get something at 7PM, that meat has been sitting on a keep warm burner since 6AM after it was trucked in from god knows where.

Ugh thats so frustrating. Its the same for me and Chik Fil A. Literal cause of traffic accidents but theres local chains here that blow them out of the water and have much better sides.

That sucks so much. I guess its part of the price to pay for accessibility but it also makes it harder for places that do everything in store to thrive.

I like to coat mine in oil and salt then air fry them for like 40 minutes or so at 400F. Then I fluff them, put some butter in there to melt and cover it in so much sour cream you can't even tell there's potato basically. Then I put some black pepper and salt and then chopped green onions. Delicious

BBQ is king in Texas from my experience, some of the places out there at least pre-Covid I haven't been there since took great pride in their food. That doesn't mean you can't find it good elsewhere, but you have a much higher chance in Texas.

One of the best steaks I ever had in my life came from a restaurant in Ft. Worth Texas, and I found out part of why this was is the meat was local from a farm nearby.

Its good in some places but sadly it has the same deal as "Cubans" in Miami, Pizza in New york, and Buffalo wings in Buffalo. There's a lot of places that just try to market themselves due to the location.

I know that what we call them, but I am pretty sure thats not what their are called in Cuba and I don't have the desire to look up the actual name.

Its the same from what I gather. There was steady trade between Cuba and Key West around the time it was created, with both places having roots in creating the sandwich.
