First day I've felt all four of the main match songs were good.

Final Answer is mid-tier Umineko to me, but mid-tier Umineko is still pretty good.

There was talk in one of the discords that going with all battle themes for 13s might cost it, and I think it has here. CUPQ is absolutely a strong draw, and 13s needed a strong draw of its own to combat it; Leucine just isn't it. (in before someone counting votes tells me that Leucine is ahead by 10 or something)

I can appreciate AerisDies' avant-garde ost, but that doesn't mean I like listening to it.

To The Heart is a fun city pop song. Great bassline, vocals, and piano. The guitar solo is cool too. Final Answer is decent. The organ and harpsichord are nice. Melody is pretty weak though. Fairly easy vote for To The Heart here.

-(LEUCINE)- is certainly one of the weaker 13 Sentinels battle themes, but it's well-produced, has a decent melody, and it's not -[DEOXYRIBOSE]-. The synth at 2:15 is especially neat. I still hate how they appended the victory themes to the end of these in the soundtrack, but I won't hold it too much against it. Cheer Up, Pure Queen is pretty nice too. Nice flutes, acoustic guitar, and piano. I think I'm gonna go with -(LEUCINE)- though purely because it has more appealing synths to me.

These AerisDies arrangements are really interesting. The amateurish production has a sort of charm to it. And obviously the original compositions are great. If you're curious, this is the original version of At Your Funeral by Saves The Day (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SK7TUTwmH4). Great song. ABSOLUTE EVIL is alright. Nothing to write home about. Probably the only song I didn't enjoy today.

Pretty solid day. Definitely not as strong as yesterday, but still very good.

To The Heart is a solid bop, no doubt. Maybe not Paradise (Stay Forever) levels of bop, but a bop nonetheless.

Cheer Up, Pure Queen is a new discovery for me, god damn I wasn't expecting for it to go the way I thought it was.

I want to like ABSOLUTE EVIL more, but something about it feels a little too heavy for me, so I'll go with the odd choice of At Your Funeral, which is certainly charming in its own way.

yes, some of the mixes included them which is why we used mycro's version omitting that for isoleucine

Snubs match was shockingly close, as that was definitely the best AerisDies song i've heard and absolute evil definitely rides the line of "not for me" in terms of rhythm game songs

MATCH 1

I really liked To the Heart when it showed up in VGMC. Still a really cool song! Final Answer, though, is probably one of my favorite dai songs in Umineko. Episode 5 had a really strong showing for dai songs in general, I think, though Im a bit biased because its also one of my favorite episodes music-wise.

MATCH 2

Leucine is also really cool! I definitely should check out more 13 Sentinels music. Evidently, based on this song and many others by him, I should prioritize listening to all the Yoshimi Kudo songs lol. Agh, Cheer Up, Pure Queen is really cool too, this is tough. I really like piano arpeggios, so thats one big positive about that song. I think in the end, its the stronger song here, but its sort of close.

MATCH 3

I really enjoy the vibe of At Your Funeral. It sounds like a song recorded in the early 2000s in someones bedroom. It may not be clear from how much I push extremely anime songs in these VGM contests, but I also really like indie rock/post-punk sounding songs, and this song definitely appeals to that side of my taste. Despite what I said at the beginning, though, I feel like I would like this song more if it had better vocals and higher production quality.

I like what Absolute Evils going for with the spooky baroque melodies, but it goes too hard into the rhythm game beats for me. I think this match would be really close without that stuff.

Edit: Just read Maxs post about the original At Your Funeral. Now thats more like it!
