Good news for TCU is that they're probably in no matter what now (barring anything crazy like a 40 point loss). There was always a chance the committee would rip them off yet again and drop them below Ohio State with a loss.

Sad news is that the Vols would be a virtual lock now if we hadn't lost to South Carolina. Oh well.

I think the only thing a TCU loss may do at this point is cause them to put OSU at 3 to force the rematch with Michigan.

Tennessee should be at 6 right now rather than 7 though.

I'd also add in Ohio State's favor. Last season Georgia got smacked around by Alabama to give them their sole loss prior to CFP rankings. Alabama were not undefeated at the time.

Georgia's ranked wins at selection time were Clemson (19), Arkansas (22), Kentucky (25) (compared to Ohio States 8 + 21 this season). Like Michigan for OSU, Alabama were the first good team Georgia met and they got beat the shit out of.

The difference is that Clemson is a fraud and only was ranked as highly as they were based on previous reputation (the ACC is bad, Notre Dame dominated the ACC portion of their schedule and struggled with literally everyone else, which is telling) so in that case, South Carolina did everyone a favor.

I'm sad this is a night game for Michigan since I have to work tonight. Will probably only catch maybe one quarter between the time I wake up and when I gotta leave.

I don't see any way Alabama actually gets in. Georgia gets in even with a loss, and TCU gets in over Bama with a loss imo

I think if USC hadn't lost it would be UGA/Mich/USC/tOSU right now but with USC's loss TCU slots in at 4

I think the only way Bama possibly gets in is if Michigan lose to Purdue to make Ohio State look worse. And even then it's questionable.

If Bama had looked more dominant during the season maybe but they didn't look good outside the losses either.

I think theyll try to avoid an immediate Michigan vs Ohio State rematch

So theyll most likely stay at 3, or even move to 2 if Michigan loses

They only drop to 4 if Georgia loses and Michigan wins to move to 1

Yeah, I was saying to someone that off resume alone before today's games Ohio State was above USC. Obviously the conference championship game would have propelled them ahead but this was purely in reply to the 'getting punished for playing in the title game' when in reality if there was no title game, they would have had OSU at 4

TCU probably isn't even dropping a single rank.

The only possible way Alabama jumps OSU is if Michigan totally shits the bed.

Even then, it's not like LSU hasn't been blown out multiple times.
