We'll see if there's enough interest to keep a general going or not, but I've been getting really into horror movies the past couple years and would love a nice little hub to discuss horror movies in, I've only got a couple of friends IRL that are as into horror as I've gotten lately.

This year I've been catching up on a lot of 80's and 90's slashers I'd never seen. Watched Jack Frost, The Slumber Party Massacre, Slumber Party Massacre 2, and Chopping Mall all for the first time in the past couple months, enjoyed all of them to varying degrees. (Jack Frost is the worst part of Jack Frost IMO. >_>)

I also finally got around to watching Malignant last night; I know it got a mixed reception, but I REALLY enjoyed it. It fully committed to its weird ass premise, had some intense kill scenes, and as dark as it got it you could also tell that the filmmakers were having a lot of fun with it, and certain absurdities here and there just felt part of the ride. Highly enjoyable.

Debating what I want to watch tonight; probably gonna browse Shudder for a bit and hope something catches my eye.

Also I know it's probably not gonna be very good, but I kinda wanna watch Thankskilling for the hell of it since Thanksgiving is in a couple days.

Most recent horror I watched was Halloween Kills. It has many, many flaws but there is a lot I think is great.

More than a topic about it, we need a spreadsheet that we can all edit (like each CEusers can only edit 1 page on the spreadsheet) and then in that we just list all the horror movies we've seen (and maybe rate them out of 10 or something).

i had a list of like 300+ that i'd seen but I lost it in 2017 or so (HDD crash). hard to reproduce that list, but i kinda want to try.

I think if we saw everyone's list maybe we'd remember movies we'd seen, and also see what's popular, or find another user whose tastes we vibe with.

I gotta disaree; it was a little campy at times, but it felt intentional. I've also realized that I enjoy campy horror. >_>

Plus it still had some really cool kill sequences, and as crazy as some of the twists got, I appreciated how commited they were to them. Just unflinching, "Yeah, fuck it, let's do this crazy shit."

I don't like watching horror movies, but I do like reading spoilers

So...has anyone seen a movie called The Special iirc?

I saw it advertised on my smart TV scroll and the colors caught my eye, but I couldn't find spoilers anywhere.

Ayyy, hell yes.

I'm a lot weaker than I should be on my foreign horror film watching. I do love what I have seen though, Like House (1977), Tetsuo: The Iron Man, and The Happiness of the Katakuris. Def down for any recs.

I still haven't watched any of the new Halloween run; me and my roommate started watching through the entire franchise in release order (we're doing the same with the Nightmare and Friday franchises). We only just watched H20 the other night though, so we still got a couple more to go before we get there.

If someone sets it up I'd participate.

I will say, Letterboxd has been a very good resource for me to keep track of the movies I've watched and find new movies.

I'm so sad I missed the chance to watch Pearl and Terrifier 2 in theaters; will probably just buy both of them outright on Blu-Ray when they release.

Also, just watched Re-Animator for the first time. That shit was fucking awesome.

I'm learning that I fucking love 80s horror. The Thing is just ouright my favorite movie of all time, and lots of other favs of mine came from that era. Almost everything I've watched from then has been solid, outside of a couple shitty sequels of things.

I've never heard of this one before, but the vague description I could find sounds interesting.

I thought X was so-so, but I was shocked by how much I loved Pearl.

Also Malignant is some dumb shit, but if you are down for that dumb shit you can totally enjoy it.

Yeah, thats why it was shit. It wasnt good campy. It tried to be a campy fun movie horror and it wasnt.

It's tone was way off. It didnt do the horror part well and it wasnt campy enough to be fun. It was a dumb movie but not in a good way.

IDK, I respected how much it committed to its silly premise and tried to play it straight.

I can for sure see why it's not for everyone though. I think it just hit all of the right buttons for me.

Still haven't gotten around to The Menu yet, but I did watch OG Dracula and OG The Invisible Man. Been slowly working through the OG Universal Monster flicks. Invisible Man is probably my favorite of them yet; I love how fucking Chaotic Evil he is as a character.
