Dude beat his grandson to death with a crowbar and he's ex special forces or whatever.

You can't tell me Alfred couldn't do it if he wanted to.

Imagine there's a mass Arkham breakout and the Batfamily is out doing Bat things. Joker decides his latest fuckery is going to involve Bruce Wayne, so he goes to get him at the manor. Obviously Bruce isn't there, so he takes Alfred hostage. But Alfred turns the tables and mocks Joker. Tells him that Batman is Bruce Wayne to ruin the mystery. Tells him that he's scanned him with Bat-tech and found whatever dead man's switch bullshit he has. And then points out that when news gets out that the big bad Joker was killed by the bumbling, elderly butler of ditzy playboy Brucie Wayne, the Joker will finally get what he's always wanted: everyone will be laughing at him.

This will probably happen someday. Of course, Joker won't stay dead. But it woukd be a fun story to explore. Maybe in the aftermath, Bruce gets mad at Alfred

See, I think Alfred is the one person in the world that could manipulate Bruce. He knows how Bruce thinks, he has the acting chops to fake it, he has the shady black ops training to stage the scene, and at the very core of it...Bruce would want to believe him. No one wants Joker dead more than Bruce, he just can't bring himself to do it.

Was going to bring up I feel Alfred's only chance against the joker is thr fact he's not afraid to bustva cap in his ass.

Iirc joker and Alfred have fought before and joker made short work of him. (New 52 so probably re-connect by now. But I believe he cut his hand off with a machete) Joker is no slouch in hand to hand combat he just looks it compared to batman. Take this and he's both clever and unpredictable... yeah Alfred isn't as spry as he once was.

Haven't seen it myself but my brother told me about a issue where batman walks in on what appears to be a dead body and Alfred pointing a gun at it. Bruce asks if he killed him. Alfred says no I just shot him. The body squirms so Alfred pumps another round into him. Bruce gets mad only to discover its rubber bullets.

I'mma be honest, I do not like that interpretation. I prefer Joker essentially being just a big clown nerd.

There is an alternative universe called Earth-1 where Alfred used to be in the Royal Marines.
Bruce decides to go after the Penguin because he thought that he killed his parents.
He was almost correct. Penguin had planned to do it for years and he had goons at the theatre that would do it, but Bruce got his parents to leave early for different reasons and a random madman gunned them down in an alley. Penguin manages to defeat Batman, rips off his mask and discovers that it is Bruce Wayne. He starts to stab Bruce with an umbrella when Alfred suddenly appears in the door and kills Penguin with a shotgun.

Eh I feel it explains why no random muck has knocked his lights out before. Like I wouldn't imagine him being good enough to be a pro fighter but good enough to beat average untrained people easily.

I don't think you need an explanation for why random goons don't take him out, this is a city where one of the major crime bosses is a doughy, nearsighted dude with a puppet.

I don't mean goons. I meant just random people guards arkham for example who should have some training in subduing a person. Idk with jokers record I feel someone at some point would say fuck it I'm punching him

Edit. I think it's enough to say joker has landed a blow on batman before. A cheap shot sure but most people can't even manage that

The best storyline was Alfred being the Joker the whole time.

I'm of the idea that people don't try that because he has such a...presence, for lack of a better word. They don't want to be the one to catch his attention.

You know Bruce would be like "ALFRED, WHAT DID YOU DO?!", cut Alfred's pay by 30%, then put The Joker in the Lazarus Pit.

Alfred's a billionaire. He got a lot of Wayne Enterprises stock when he became Bruce's guardian.

And tbh, I imagine Bruce doesn't actually pay him. He just has blanket permission to buy whatever the hell he wants.

I always assumed that Batman is protecting the villains of Gotham from Alfred, by putting them in jail/asylum.

No, Earth-1 was a modernized re-imagining of DC heroes.
Earth-0 is the main universe, unless they have changed it again.

I loved Gotham Academy. Besides the great artstyle, I enjoy the stories and settings that are set in the universe with all the big leaguers like batman, but not focusing on batman, and instead focusing on lesser characters who idolize them and make the 7 leaguers almost myth like.

Also Gotham Adventures is great because it's like more DCAU but focusing on the dynamics of Babs and Nightwing together, Nightwing and Robin, basically all the supporting cast of the bat family. I love stuff like that

It's just a link to the Wayne Family Adventures webtoon. Slice of life comic where the Batfamily is slightly modified to be nicer to each other and Bruce is a good not-dad.
