I like that your link posts a source article and then lies about what it says. MW2 is the fastest to earn $1B, not the fastest selling, and it was able to do so due to microtransaction sales.

It's definitely doing quite well though.

Fastest grossing, not fastest selling. The games are $70 now and have all sorts of special editions and microtransactions. The peak trio of Black Ops, Modern Warfare III and Black Ops II will definitely have higher unit sales for this span.

It is the highest selling in a while though. At least since MW2019 if not before. It kind of shows the argument that CoD should stop the annual releases as they have one that hits big every few years, and two or three in between that cost as much to make and have everybody at Activision working on them but sell far less. I think theres a good chance that this game will beat Black Ops to become the highest selling CoD, as there is no new game next year so it will have longer to sell without a new game undercutting it.

I'm excited to try out Warzone 2 and hope they improved on some of things that were lacking in the 1st

Either way people need to start clarifying the title when they talk about it and stop acting like it's the first game called MW2.

No, the original had a different title. It was Modern Warfare 2. The new game is Modern Warfare II.

This makes sense, isn't the original MW2 like the crown jewel of the CoD franchise?

The original MW2 and then Black Ops 2 were the last time I purchased and put time into a CoD game. The promise of old MW2 maps eventually coming to this one got me to buy one of these games for the first time in over a decade and it's been a lot of fun.

Not sure how much of that is about it being good and how much of it is just me not playing one of them since I was like 16.

It coming back to Steam might have helped the sales also. Anyway i liked the beta for this one but i wasn't prepared to pay 60 for it on Steam.
