First and foremost yes, I'm streaming it and I am streaming it at this moment of the making of this topic and I will bump it everytime I get on, I think it deserves its own topic

so some months ago, I asked b8 to help me reach a twitch goal , if you hit 50 you unlock a bunch of perks

and I was really close, so thats why I came to you guys, so to pay you guys back, I asked for the people that provided their (prime) subs to request a game and I will hold a poll and I will play the winner

I actually ended up playing half of them since they were arcade games or beat em ups and stuff

whether through actual luck or just stuffing, Hollow Knight won

and super generously, Corrik donated the game to me (can someone tag him? I can't seem to find his username)

life happened and I wasn't able to dedicate myself to beating a metroidvania (from what I hear)

so I had to put it off, but I'm finally doing it

I'll be recording it yes, but I'll also use this topic to track my thoughts on it

so please join me if you can! As I said this was a b8 thing to begin with!

Oh sweet!

So I am VERY VERY bad at exploration games

I get really really lost, I got lost in my RE playthrough, got lost in Silent Hill, and now this, I was literally going in circles a few times

but the game is finally coming together

I made it to the Hornet fight and people were impressed I beat it on the first try!

I am getting immersed in it and I'm interested to see why all of the things are happening and to see why the main character is there

two things I dont' like is

well, I hate killing all of enemies lol, they are so cute

and well, this one is more complex

because of my deteriorated vision that I had suffered back in last december, its VERY hard for me to play this game, I have a light sensitivity now and I have a hard time seeing darkness

this game is either or

or in some cases, too much of each at the same time!

I was having a hard time on a boss because one of his projectiles is a roly poly and that thing was too dark for me to see

its a me issue, not a game issue, but damn man

but yea, this is the game b8 endorsed so we'll continue it soon!
(a bunch of b8ers showed up to watch the stream, I was surprised still lol)

I actually did not do much

I found the charm lady and bought an extra notch!
I'm dreading the notch thing, its giving me flashbacks of Paper Mario where you had such limited BPs, every time I leveled up, thats where my bonus went to. and even at the end you just have 30, its so small

I'm getting the feeling its gonna be worse here

anyways, I found the shop owner of Dirtmouth and hes up above now

I found the guy who teaches the spin attack

found out about the beetle bus

found a guy talking about an Arena but haven't found it yet

and found the wraith attack

aaand thats about it

again, I'm not used to Metroidvanias, everytime I decide on a goal, I find something else and that pulls me away for a long time

I guess thats the point

I never can keep up with all of the dead ends, you're supposed to come back with certain abilities or items but I just get lost here and can't remember them, I know you can put pins in them but alot of the time I find them when I don't have the map or something, so I just end up having to reexplore everything anyways

but yea , we haven't moved on to the main game. thats what I mean, it seems like alot but its not

oh also I got my first double death, died, lost my money, and died again before retrieving it, and I did it like 10 minutes away from discovering the bank, I lost 1300 ughhhh

been a bit but we are gonna continue right now

we finally made some progress and found Hornet again infront of the Hollow Knight statue (TITLE DROP)

Lolo was nice enough to drop a hint about a shop keeper that buys my vendor trash, the journals and shit

so I had like 3k+ monies at this point

I bought everything of use from the guy in Dirtmouth, and went and bought a notch from the badge lady and eventually bought the other fragile badges too

one of the items I got was the firefly or whatever, so I can see in dark rooms now

I found a path in the crossroads that led me to the city of tears, I found my way to the graveyard area and three spirits are just PISSSED at me and now I gotta go kill them, I got the dream nail too

I discovered the southern basin but I can't do much yet

I got the ground pound attack and I'm ASSUMING I have to find somewhere I have to destroy to proceed but I don't remember seeing anything like that

so I'm...not stuck per se, I just ...don't know where to go from this point LOL

I got a bunch of things but I don't know what to do with them

everytime this happens I just reexplore the world but damn this is like the 4th time LOL

but again, I guess its just the name of the game, the metroidvania game

one thing that happened was I died in the graveyard so I had to retrieve my money

I discovered a bug bus south (technically in City of tears)

so I kept using that bus then go north and then go venture into the graveyard again

turns out

after you wake up from the dream, if you go right from the essence plant, theres not only a bug bus of the Graveyard, there was the map dude too

I ...wasted probably literal hours doing it the hard way ._.

did I mention I'm really bad at metroid vanias?

So we did quite a few things, we beat one of the dreamers! AND I unlocked the double jump!

There was a boss where fungus possess giant dead roly poly dudes and the audience was surprised I beat it in one try

alot of the world is gonna open up to us now

also stream starting now

Alright we made some progress

I discovered the sewer system and I got the item that lets you swim in Acid from it

and we took on the spider nest a few times and so far we got the tram pass

I still have to go back to it. There is still the area east of the King's station I can explore and theres still the upper part of the Crystal Peak I can check out now that I have the double jump

okay so a few things happened too

I deposited some money , 3k to be exact, some time ago

I decided to go get it back because I found this pond that required you to throw money into it

THE BANKER WAS FUCKING GONE

Luckily I received a tip from a viewer and was told of her general area, City of Tears. I looked high and low and I found a location that required a simple key to open

she was chillin in a hot springs

she was like, Its all gone, so please leave, so I decided to fight her and she spills money, I spilled her dry, not only did I get my 3k back, I got 6k in total
bitch

but heres the thing, this is a gag, this is a way to get more money, but it took away something else from me

I was PRAISING the game for having a banking system, its rare, but I LOVE it when the game has a bank system. I HATE wasting money when you have a full wallet or something. Majora's Mask comes to mind. but yea, this game ROBBED me of not only my money, BUT OF THAT TOO, I WANTED TO HAVE THAT SO BAD!

its not even about the COMFORT of having a safe place to put your money being taken way, its the idea of the actual GAME MECHANIC I was pissed off about, I'm looking at it from outside of the game here. Ughhhh bastards

well anyways, heres another thing that happened

Lolo gave me a tip and said "I know something you can do when you get 9k monies"
So I sold some vendor trash and got it, he told me to go to Howling Cliffs, I found this huge flame I activated, I'm surprised I didn't see this thing earlier
it caused a Circus Troupe to arrive. They gave me a sidequest of finding flames throughout the world. Damn I guess I have to do that some time. well then this other person named Divine was there, she wanted to look at my Fragile Heart badge, this one is one I actually have equipped at all times, its one of my regulars. I was apprehensive, but Lolo confirmed this is the person you give the money to, so I assume she makes it NOT fragile. she ate it

but yea, 3k is both not alot and alot at the same time

and as I said, this badge is one I regularly have and she most definitely took it away from my inventory

OH another thing that happened is that when I was looking for the banker, in the same area, I found a spirit!

it was a lovely lady, she was a singer. She talked to me and said she loves to sing, and I guess its that love that kept her from going into the afterlife and the reason why shes a ghost, she still wants to sing

I listened to her a bit

it was lovely

I wanted to read her mind

I did the dream slash thing

...I absorbed her for 1 lousy essence

All the spirits that fight can be triggered by just talking as well. There is a graveyard by where you get the Dream Nail that was supposed to warn you about doing what you just did.

a few minor things that happened is there was a Miner bug that would talk to me, they sang a song and asked me if I knew any songs

I would talk to them later and they seemed like they were getting tired

but then I ran into them again and they were gone, just like the rest of the miners :(

It makes me wonder if I could've done anything for them

I keep forgetting the weak get corrupted in this area. thats what the orange shit is

I DID find a huge monster that was surrounded by 3 big poofy monsters and it was infected with orange shit , but was still talking to me

I saw them again and ...yea, that room got way worse, I'm assuming I have to put them down now but I didn't engage yet because I was kind of battered at the time

I FOUND SOME DUDE CALLED THE DUNG AVENGER

He was blown into the background looney tunes style when I beat him so maybe we haven't seen the last of them

in my travels, I keep seeing a bug thats in a very secretive path, I can only see them through the walls, I think its near the Mantis village

I'm afraid if I take too long now, something wiill happen to them, I can't find a way to them

yea this game can get kind of dire at times

this was another "did alot but didn't do alot" runs

The circus came to town as I mentioned last time, and I did Grimm's sidequest, twice! The second time he ACTUALLY RANDOMLY FOUGHT ME

WHAT THE FUCK

And I appreciated the Castlevania allusions this fight had

I lost twice on him, I tend to pick up on bosses kind of quick but sometimes I get caught up in trying to do dumb things, like charge my attack or try to heal, when I should just be dodging and fighting.

I forget what its called but In order to get one of the flames I had to go to uncharted territory , east. I actually found the map guy while I was there! IT TURNS OUT THIS AREA HAS THE ARENA THAT I HEARD OF IN THE BEGINNING OF THE GAME!

We'll put a pin on that

I have further explored the land with Jellyfish in it, and doing so took me into Queen's garden AND back into Deepnest, While the Garden needs more exploring, Deepnest is done

I ran into a spider that makes masks and..he doesn't seem to do anything

I ran into some glob monster that tries to eat me

doesn't seem to do anything

this is about where I stopped, I did alot of exploring and now I have access to the last two dreamers. I'm sure there is a dungeon involved to get to them, so I'm still a bit away

I also still have Crystal peak to explore now that I have the double jump

Oh, also, The stag told me he found his old nest, so we went to go visit, we found a broken egg! He holds hope he is not the last of his kind and his name changed to Old Stag

after a hiatus I'm starting up right now, stream is starting

so I proceeded and absorbed the remaining two dreamers

one of them the drifter guy came and helped me in the fight! I was never expecting him to aid me in a fight, let alone me having an ally in a battle as well

apparentlY I can go get AN ending right now if I wanted to

I wanted to go to the coliseum but I got lost (as per usual) and found hornet again! She challenged me to a duel once more and I lost, my excuse this time was there are crazy wind currents that are making the screen go white, I literally could not see during the fight. so in the rematch I had to turn the brightness down and i won

apparently I wear the mark of the king now

I went and beat the first two levels of the Coliseum

so basically I'm rounding things up before the end

I trained with the last Nailmaster and then went to the little bug dude and got a badge

I upgraded my nail again, the thing is, I thought this was the last upgrade
I need 3 more Ores now. 3? I DON"T EVEN KNOW WHERE I COULD POSSIBLY JUST GET 1 NOW, LET ALONE 3?!

I found a little bee hive room, but it was a dead end and only led to a caterpillar. but its foreshadowing that I will go into a hive soon

I was really late on this because I did not find the solution quick enough, but I rescued a girl and she went to dirtmouth

apparently if I had done this before the coliseum , she would have fell in love with me, but because I had already done it, she fell for Tote (which from what I understand, she would do anyways)
I discovered she built a monument to him and I am capable of fighting this dream version of Tote. unfortunately I was not prepped for a boss fight so I lost it, I might give it another go later

OH I got the final 3 flames for my little bug buddy
and.......Nightmare Grimm...thats all I'm gonna say
I legit don't think I can beat this boss

with that said, doing a small stream right now!

I went to crystal peaks and explored a bit more since its been awhile since I got the double jump and never came back

I found the Hallownest Crown? But its pretty empty, doesn't seem to have anything there

I tried looking for a way into the bee hive but I haven't been able to figure it out yet

I went back and fought Dream zote and beat him! using the essence I got here, I went and upgraded my dream nail! I need like 2100 essence now , the sidequest is over but she apparently wants that

with a fully upgraded dream nail, I went to the Palace grounds and was finally able to probe that one guy that was there and it took me to a dream world called White Palace

This place was really hard, but as I said in my stream many times, I 100%'d super meat boy, this shit was just super meat boy, literally, with the buzzsaws and everything

the issue was, it just kept going and going and going, my stream went WAY longer than I intended. I actually did a whole section, and it looped me back to the beginning. THERE WAS A SWITCH I MISSED AND I HAD TO DO THE COURSE ALL OVER AGAIN

I got half of a badge from my troubles

I'm not 100% sure what I'm gonna do on my next stream

Congratulations on going through the white palace. I'm not a very talented platformer, so i just nope'd out of all that.

I keep getting told I'm good at the game, but I say my past experience from playing Platformers from the NES and SNES days is just carrying me, as Super Mario Bros was my very first game

Starting up Hollow Knight stream

what I did last time is round up loose ends

I finished the Essence sidequest, the lady was like "NOW I MUST GO, MY PLANET NEEDS ME" and dipped the fuck off

I upgraded my nail to its fullest, and I spared the blacksmith and refused to strike him down with it

I found the rest of the badges

I got that fucking "Blessing" from that one lady, now her spirit shows up everytime I sit on a bench ._.

the only quests I have left are the flower one and the arena , I think

I got one of the endings, you fight the Titular Hollow Knight, and I had no idea he was sealed in that egg thing

and your guy takes his place and thats it

I guess i'll get the true ending next time

oh one interesting thing that happened

I went and fight the traitor mantis or whatever

then I went and found Cloth!

she said I inspired her to be brave. I wondered outloud if I just got her killed, her bravery is gonna put her into something and shes gonna die

...Lolo in the audience actually confirmed if I had done that FIRST before the Mantis fight, she would've died in it

so...yay I'm a hero, accidentally saving people!
