My brother tried Steins;Gate on his own, years before I watched it even, but he quit after five minutes because Mayuri annoyed him.

Wow, sounds like your brother has great opinions!

Wait, he dropped GLT? Maybe not, then.

I've got Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress deep in the queue since that was recommended for AoT fans, and Ergo Proxy which I know nothing about but I believe is set in a post-apocalyptic world as well (and came highly recommended), it's the long-delayed next show in my queue to watch... never enough time.
Kabaneri is not a good show. It starts out amazing, but really falls apart something awful, sadly.

2. School-Live
https://myanimelist.net/anime/24765/Gakkougurashi
Summer 2015 (12 episodes)
My Score: 10/10, MAL Score: 7.62/10
Best Character: Takeya Yuki

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Xaa7vSav-E

My Yuki figure: https://imgur.com/k7oaw2y

Premise: Takeya Yuki is part of a club where the students live inside the school! Alongside three other girls, a supervising teacher, and a cute dog named Taromarou, each day is filled with fun... but there might be another reason why they aren't allowed to go outside.

The Good: School-Live is... well, before I talk about it, I want to warn that this has a twist. It starts off looking like a typical cute girls slice-of-life, but theres a great moment at the end of the first episode where they reveal what kind of anime this actually is. It's the first video in my Yuki write-up. I hate to spoil it. I won't be able to talk about anything else otherwise, though, so here we go.

School-Live is a horror anime about zombies. It also manages to still be a cute girls slice-of-life. Yuki, who is easily my favorite anime character ever, was psychologically broken by the zombie apocalypse. The only way she could make it through was by convincing herself that everything was normal. Her fractured mind sees regular classrooms filled with normal students. In reality, she's surrounded by broken furniture covered in bloodstains, and she's talking to herself. The School Living Club rule about staying inside is part of the delusion, so that she doesn't wander out into the zombies scratching at their barricades. Yuki is still a genuinely friendly and energetic girl, but a lot of her actions are really off-putting.

The one who has the biggest problem with it is Miki, a younger student who thinks Yuki should face reality. Kurumi and especially the "club president" Yuuri, however, have come to rely on Yuki to stay sane. As long as she pretends everything is normal, they can too, at least a little bit. There's also their teacher, Megu-nee, who wants to keep everyone safe, and a cute dog they all rescued. Thanks to Yuki's delusions, they live each day as best they can while also trying to survive against the zombies that are slowly forming a horde outside. I loved the blend of cute girl antics contrasted with the seriousness of their situation. The things the girls did to have fun, in addition to being genuinely cute and funny, felt so much more meaningful because of what they were hiding from. Yuki was also a fascinating character.

The Bad: This is another anime that ended after one season. I'd have loved to get more. Still, it ended at what felt like the perfect spot, so I dont mind as much. Otherwise, I thought it was perfect.

Overall: School-Live is my favorite anime in what's easily my favorite mashup of genres, "cute girls with deeper themes". It's a solid cute girls slice-of-life, for one thing. An anime about these same characters in the School Living Club would've still ranked very high even without a twist. Still, the zombies, and Yuki's mind shattering as a result, are what propelled School-Live into my all-time favorites. The dire situation made anything the girls did feel so much more meaningful. Yuki is also my favorite anime character. Basically, everything School-Live did was amazing, and I loved it a lot.

SPOILERS FOR SCHOOL-LIVE

VIDEO LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSAuF2th7es
ANOTHER ONE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jM3t6_9N0cE

I already talked a lot in the anime write-up about Yuki's delusions. The zombie apocalypse broke her mentally, and the only way she could keep moving forward was by genuinely pretending that everything was normal. They lived at the school as part of a club, not because they're trapped by flesh-eating monsters. I mentioned before in earlier character write-ups that I love examining different sides of characters. I love time travel stories or alternate dimensions where we can see different versions of the same character, or amnesia where we can see their core personality. In a way, Yuki has all of those things, and that's why I find her so fascinating.

In one flashback, we get to see normal Yuki. And she's... different. She seems sullen, lonely, almost depressed. Her classmates whisper about her, making fun of her hat. Then zombies attack, and Yuki is one of the few survivors led by Megu-nee in clearing and barricading the school. Yuki holds it together, at least until Megu-nee dies. That is what actually breaks her. The second video I linked is another great moment. It's when we realize that the Megu-nee we've been seeing so far is another aspect of Yuki's delusions. All those jokes about how she has no presence or gets no respect take on a much darker light, knowing that.

That adds a whole other layer to Yuki's character, though, and I love it so much. While Yuki thinks everything is normal, the delusional Megu-nee is the part of her that knows the truth. When they go on a test of courage (actually to loot the school store) and run across a zombie, the fake Megu-nee grabs Yuki and keeps her quiet. There are just so many interesting layers to her psychosis. There are also times where Yuki herself is oddly forward-thinking for someone who isn't supposed to know what's going on. She's the one who suggests and justifies their field trip to the mall when their supplies were running low. Some part of Yuki is watching and paying attention. She just prefers to live in make-believe. And, hey, can you blame her?

Another reason why I love Yuki is the same reason the others love her. She helps keep them sane. A lot of the fun things they did were because of Yuki. In her delusions, she isnt her old depressed self. She's happy and friendly, like an idealized version of herself. If the situation ever became too much, the others could just look to Yuki and see someone who still has hope and is genuinely cheerful. I think that mattered a lot, but Miki was still right when she argued that it wasnt healthy. It's a painful process, but Yuki does eventually emerge from her delusions, and everyone is better for it.

I love the evolving opening credits in School-Live. It starts cute and normal, but it darkens considerably by the end. It adds zombies, gets rid of Miki's friend, switches to Megu-nee's grave, and then to her as a zombie. In the last few, the sky is blood red and they've even lost Taroumaru. Kurumi gets bit, and the school is overrun. They make it through, thankfully, but then there's a final gut-punch when Taroumaru dies. However, unlike before, Yuki doesn't turn away from reality. She moves on into the unknown with her friends. She's still a cheerful, energetic, friendly girl, one who can support them and keep them sane, but she won't live in delusions anymore. She had a wonderful character arc.

I want to talk about one last thing that really got to me. One activity the girls did was sending off messages tied to balloons. At the very end of the show, we see someone find one. Imagine that's you. It's the zombie apocalypse, you're wandering around just trying to survive, and then you find a note. You turn it over, likely expecting a cry for help. Instead, you find a cute drawing of four girls and a dog that says "We are happy", probably the last thing you'd ever expect. But, those girls truly were happy, and it was thanks to Yuki.

COMING UP TOMORROW:
1: This anime just learned that it's getting married against its will.
C77: This character doesn't want to go along with a marriage pact.
C9: This character is terrified of the unknown.

It's hard to believe the ranking is almost over (not counting recs which will likely take most of December).

I have some strong opinions about School Live, but there's gonna be some real division in how we view it since the anime only covers the first not-quite-half. I found the 'Yuki thinks it's a school club but surprise, zombies!' premise kind of tedious, and in general was happier with the stuff after the anime, but admittedly the parts I like only have that appeal because the first part was there to set them up. And there's plenty of iffy parts in the rest of the manga too.

I'm not surprised you put Yuki there, though I didn't realize she was overall #1. I liked her overall, but I thought the real star was Kurumi. Kurumi was so cool and her arc easily justified any of the less good parts of the manga. Huge fan.

School-Live manga >>> School-Live anime, at least for the part of the story that both of them cover. I'm really not a fan of the way the anime turned the focus on cuteness up to eleven, plus the manga plot made a lot more sense.

Unrelated to that, I don't like the trend of shocking first episode premise twists that School-Live started. It gets old hearing that you have to watch the first episode blind for a show to be good, which usually just means it's a "surprise" violent show with nothing else worth noting.

It's not really the twists themselves that bother me, it's the fandom overreactions. It gets old seeing mediocre series get hyped up just because they're darker and edgier than expected. And then there's the opposite case where the show is actually good, but it's impossible to recommend or discuss because you "can't" hint at a twist at all.

School-Live was my last anime with a figure to show, so I wanted to post a list of all the images, just for fun. I don't have any figures from my #1 anime, sadly, but I would've bought some if they existed! I check for new releases from favorite shows or characters every so often, though I don't know where I'd put any more if I got them. My cabinet is finally completely full. From the recommended anime, I've seriously considered a Vladilena Milize figure from 86, but I'd want one where she has the red streak in her hair and I haven't found a good one of those at a good price yet. 1. Engaged to the Unidentified
https://myanimelist.net/anime/20541/Mikakunin_de_Shinkoukei
Winter 2014 (12 episodes)
My Score: 10/10, MAL Score: 7.39/10
Best Characters: Mitsumine Mashiro, Yonomori Kobeni

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQ_m5VLhqNg

Premise: On her sixteenth birthday, Yonomori Kobeni learns about an arranged marriage her late grandfather set up for her. Not only that, her future husband Mitsumine Hakuya and his little sister Mashiro are moving in so they can all get to know each other!

The Good: Engaged to the Unidentified is a romantic comedy. Thats a genre I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with. However, this anime managed to take all of the good parts and none of the bad. The premise makes it sound worse than it is, for one thing. A girl being forced into a marriage would be gross, and the guy suddenly moving into her house sounds like a set-up for a bunch of uncomfortable situations. Thankfully, it isnt like that all. Kobeni is naturally resistant to the idea of an arranged marriage she had no say in, and theres every indication her wishes will be respected. Still, she agrees to at least get to know them first. Hakuya turns out to be a quiet and respectful man, almost to the point of fading into the background at times. His devotion to Kobeni is absolute, but hes never creepy about it. The romance in Engaged to the Unidentified isnt one of those awful ones where two abusive idiots cause each other heartache. Mostly its just cute moments between them that make Kobeni blush. What little drama there is in this is realistic, and the characters are all good people trying their best so its always handled well.

Having said all of that, their relationship is surprisingly not the real focus of the show. I mean if you watch the OP, Hakuya isnt even in it until the end. He isnt on the shows poster, at least not the one MAL displays. In the ED, which is set up like a stage play, Hakuya is in the background playing the part of a tree. Engaged to the Unidentified has romance to set up the situation and for sweet moments, but in truth its just a framework for a cute girls comedy. The little sister Mashiro is the real star of the show. She shows up with Hakuya trying to act like the dignified sister-in-law, but in reality shes a kid and her childlike personality often shines through. The contrast is, without fail, always cute and hilarious. The video I linked for Mashiro is her complaining about how she hates weekends, something she probably feels like an adult would say. Then she starts dancing to the credits song of a TV show, something shes too young to realize an adult would never do.

Mashiro is always amazing. She tries to act like an authority figure who Kobeni should seek approval from, but she secretly likes it when Kobeni dotes on her. She tries to look after Hakuya, and there are admittedly a few areas hes clueless about, but its always obvious who the older sibling is. Then theres her relationship with Kobeni's older sister Benio, and well, Ill talk about that in the bad section. In any case, I loved Mashiro no matter what she was doing. Engaged to the Unidentified excelled at everything it did, whether it was the romance between Kobeni and Hakuya or the cute girls comedy primarily focused on Mashiro. All of the side characters were good too, and they added to the fun dynamics everyone had together.

The Bad: Way back when I first started this anime ranking, I posted a funny image that talked about how its hard to recommend anime because they all have some amount of anime bullshit. I imagine Kobenis older sister Benio will sail way over the line for a lot of people. At school shes the class president and a model student who everyone adores. In private, shes a pervert with a fetish for little sisters. That includes her own little sister Kobeni as well as the underage Mashiro. Now, I actually really like Benio and what she adds to the character dynamics. It helps that her obsession isnt usually explicitly sexual, and she never goes too far. Mashiro is terrified of Benio, but shes never in any real danger. Its cute and funny watching her freak out and run away, and she struggles to understand how everyone at school can idolize such an awful person. Still, even though this is my favorite anime of all time, I wouldnt blame anyone for getting turned off by this aspect of it.

Overall: Engaged to the Unidentified is my favorite romantic comedy in addition to being my favorite anime of all time. For a premise that couldve so easily been gross or uncomfortable, the relationship between Kobeni and Hakuya is really sweet. Still, the cute antics from Mashiro are easily my favorite part. Shes amazing whether shes trying to act like an adult, accidentally acting like a child, or desperately trying to avoid Benio. I wont defend the more uncomfortable aspects, I know Benio will be way too creepy for a lot of people, but I enjoyed every single thing about this show.

SPOILERS FOR ENGAGED TO THE UNIDENTIFIED

(That was the closest thing to a Kobeni clip that I could find. From the first episode)

When she wakes up on the morning of her sixteenth birthday, Kobeni receives some troubling news. It turns out her late grandfather, implied to be an eccentric and forceful man, had agreed to an arranged marriage for her. Hakuya, and his little sister Mashiro, are also moving in so she can get to know them. Kobeni is understandably upset, which hurts Hakuya's feelings for a reason she doesnt understand yet. The most that Kobeni will agree to is to get to know him first. They start spending little bits of time together, which are usually just the quiet Hakuya following her around. He latches onto any positive feelings Kobeni shows, gets easily hurt when she seems distant (though he always quickly recovers), and he shows her total devotion. Kobeni eventually starts to see him like a big friendly dog. She has no idea how close to the truth that is.

It turns out theres a light supernatural element in this love story! Kobeni met Hakuya as a child, which is shown in vague flashbacks where shes interacting with what looks like an animal. She got hurt and almost died in the mountains on that trip, but Hakuya did something to save her. Kobeni lost her memories and was left with a sickness that comes and goes. Hakuya has a scar on his face, and its implied his shapeshifting powers, whatever they are, were damaged as well. When Kobeni learns all of this, she asks why he hadnt told her earlier. Hakuya didnt want her to feel indebted to him. I thought that was really sweet. Even though he adores Kobeni, he didnt want to do anything that would make her feel obligated to love him in return.

Meanwhile, its clear that Kobeni is slowly falling for the lovable oaf. She starts thinking more about his feelings and how he would see things. She starts doing little things like buying Valentines Day presents for everyone, but making sure the handkerchief she gets him matches the one she gets for herself, giving them a secret little connection. When they realize another girl at school is a similar creature to whatever Hakuya is, and that she wants to marry him because of that, Kobeni is surprised to find that she feels jealous. Shes also relieved when Hakuya doesnt even consider that other proposal.

The last episode teases drama, but it turns out to be a big miscommunication. It still shows how important Hakuya and Mashiro are to Kobeni that she goes on a trip to the mountains to track them down. Kobeni winds up getting lost and, just like when she was a child, she almost falls off a mountain. This time, however, Hakuya is fast enough to save her from harm. Im sad this anime never got another season, but it still ended on the perfect note. Kobeni is willing to admit, while blushing cutely, that she and Hakuya are engaged. Aww. Kobeni is such a sweet and friendly girl, and she likes to look after people. I hope her and Hakuya get together for real someday, because I think theyd be really happy together.

CHARACTER: Mitsumine Mashiro (Engaged to the Unidentified)
https://myanimelist.net/character/91971/Mashiro_Mitsumine
Voiced by: Yoshida Yuuri
TOP 100 RANK: 9th

SPOILERS FOR ENGAGED TO THE UNIDENTIFIED

VIDEO LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8MIAW2vYhc

The main relationship may be between Kobeni and Hakuya, but Mashiro is the real star of Engaged to the Unidentified! She shows up a little after Hakuya. Immediately she starts acting like a mature and dignified sister-in-law. She looks Kobeni over as if deciding whether or not to approve the match. Mashiro is a literal child, however, so instead of seeming adult she just comes across as a kid playing at being something she isnt. Right away shes shaken by the idea that dinner might be too spicy. Shes also easily won over by promise of treats, and her attempts to eat gross foods like natto are a running joke. No matter how mature she tries to be, Mashiro is very much a child.

Her relationship with Benio quickly becomes antagonistic. Though Mashiro is never in any actual danger, Benio's attempts to get closer really freak her out. As uncomfortable as this logically is, I always laughed when Mashiro ran off screaming or when she yelled at Benio. It was also funny seeing how she reacted to everyone at school treating Benio like an upstanding role model. Mashiro quickly grew to like Kobeni, though, and their relationship was cute too. Mashiro did her best to support Hakuya's romantic aspirations, and this was the one area where her quiet older brother could actually use a bit of help. She pushed him to show affection and take this seriously, otherwise someone else might swoop in and steal Kobeni. Mashiro also told Konoha to back off when she started getting in the way of Hakuya and Kobeni.

Still, my favorite thing about Mashiro is the sheer number of moments where she was funny or cute. Despite being some kind of supernatural being herself, she develops a terrified fascination with UFOs and creatures like Big Foot. One of my favorite scenes was her buying a bunch of chocolate eggs that came with prizes, trying to complete her collection, only for her to get like fifty Loch Ness Monster toys. Mashiro was always great, and she carried the cute girls comedy half of the show so hard that Engaged to the Unidentified became my favorite anime ever.

COMING UP NEXT:
Recommendations!

I cant believe that my anime ranking is more or less over. Since this started in late July, Ive written roughly 160k words for every anime Ive seen from the absolute worst to the absolute best. I know there were some disagreements along the way. I disliked a few popular shows, and I know some of my favorites are ones other people would hate. Still, thats what makes anime so much fun! There must be more than a thousand individual series, and a dozen more come out every few months. No matter how distinct your tastes are, its almost guaranteed theres an anime that matches it. I love starting up a new show and seeing how much I like it.

Thats why Im excited to work through the rest of the recommendations! If you still havent given me one, dont worry. Ill keep accepting new shows for at least another week or two, and Ill give a warning before I cut them off. Dont be afraid to recommend an anime! Im sure there will be a few I dont like, and maybe even a few Ill hate. Still, there are very few anime I regret watching. Even ones I gave a 1/10 were at least unique experiences. Ill probably only post write-ups for them on weekdays. Having something to do when Im bored at work was the best thing about this project.

Thank you again to everyone who followed along with the ranking! I had a lot of fun with it, and I hope you did too. Ill post a list of the top 60 when I get home tonight to go along with the huge one at the start of the topic. Then, once Ive finished them all, Ill sort recommendations into the full ranking and post a final list. Im excited to see what it will look like!

Now, let me end this post with another meme I made using my favorite American anime, The Simpsons.

I read Engaged to the Unidentified recently. It's pretty good. Although Mashiro is the funniest character, I did think she was dragged down by her association with Benio, who I disliked quite a bit. Not really because she was creepy specifically, I just thought she got very annoying over time. Fortunately the main couple is pretty tolerable.

im kinda surprised on just HOW slice of life / high school / cute girl focused this ended up being, especially at the top. i guess that's your primary genre?

my eyes start to bleed when i watch too much along those lines but it's a definitely a good genre with some really great stuff. i'll probably take a few recommendations out of your top anime but probably not as many as i was expecting. i haven't even heard of almost anything in your top 30.

if i'd realized that was your preference to begin with, i probably would have recommended Clannad instead of a battle anime.

Instead I tried to go with the most brandon sanderson like anime i could think of HAHA GOT YOU GOOD MY OLD LITERATURE BOARD ENEMY

It's definitely the genre I have the easiest time enjoying. Nothing beats cuteness and good vibes. Every so often, though, something like Akudama Drive surprises me with how awesome it is.

Well, it worked out anyway because I really enjoyed Rokka! It had such a neat premise and it was executed well.

I was wondering if you even still remembered that, or if it was just me! The people on that board really hated me back in the day. I've mellowed out on Sanderson, though. His writing style just isn't for me. I still plan to finish the third Mistborn book someday just for completions sake.

They should make a Mistborn anime imo.

If you want actual recs, I would recommend Kamichu and Manabi Straight. They're fantasy/slightly sci-fi slice of life respectively, and I know that's your genre.

I read Engaged to the Unidentified recently. It's pretty good. Although Mashiro is the funniest character, I did think she was dragged down by her association with Benio, who I disliked quite a bit. Oh I forgot to mention that. If anyone wants to list anime they like or ones they think I might like, I'll definitely save the names and probably watch some in the future. Each person only has one official recommendation, but I'm always happy to hear about new anime!

Eh, he gave a very good rating to Golden Kamuy, which I would also describe as 'very far opposite from that genre'. Especially the part where cute girls shows like to yuribait and Golden Kamuy yaoibaits instead. I'm sure it's not a dealbreaker.

I'm actually almost done Kaiji, I'll probably do its write-up on Friday. (Beastars is tomorrow)

Kaiji is definitely not a cute girls show, that's for sure. There's a girl in the S2 ED though! At this point I think she's just a personification of gambling addiction, but she could also be a character I haven't met yet. If she is, I hope she turns out to be cuter than the ED makes her look!

BONUS. Beastars
https://myanimelist.net/anime/39195/Beastars
Fall 2019 (12 episodes), Winter 2021 (12 episodes)
My Score: TBA, MAL Score: 7.86/10 S1, 7.82/10 S2
Best Character: Haru
Recommended by: @Bane_Of_Despair

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgo9dJB_icw

Premise: In a world of anthropomorphic animal people, there's an uncomfortable divide between herbivores and carnivores. A wolf named Legoshi experiences that firsthand after a student at his school gets devoured.

The Good: Beastars is a drama set in a world of animal people. All of them are intelligent, but the differences between herbivores and carnivores often make coexistence difficult. Legoshi is a large and imposing wolf, but he strives to stay timid and non-threatening. When tensions are high after another student is eaten, however, Legoshi nearly gives into his urges. Only luck and circumstances keep him from eating a little rabbit girl named Haru (I refuse to use Hal like the Netflix subtitles because the characters are clearly saying Haru). After that, Legoshi begins to examine what it really means to be a carnivore in a world where all potential prey is sentient. He also explores an odd attachment he feels towards Haru, the rabbit he almost ate.

All of that was neat and interesting. I actually found myself thinking about the themes and character dynamics in Beastars a lot more than I usually do. Sadly, my overall opinion wound up being pretty mixed. I liked Legoshi, and his inner turmoil while exploring his identity was good. There were a lot of great side characters too, including small roles like the chicken girl who sold her eggs. The world-building was solid. There was a lot of thought put into what this society would really be like. Even the CGI animation style grew on me, though early on it was a bit janky. Still, my favorite thing was examining the relationship between Legoshi and Haru. They had such a unique dynamic, one where both of them needed to fight their instincts just to be near each other. They also had fun interactions where, personality-wise, the tiny rabbit was a lot more forceful and confident than the big wolf. All of that was great, and my biggest complaint is that they didn't focus on it more.

The Bad: Like I said above, exploring the Legoshi/Haru relationship was my favorite thing in Beastars. Most of the other plotlines felt misused or just not as interesting. I really didn't like Louis. I thought he undermined both Legoshi and Haru's character development most of the time. Like, I could organize everything about the show better in my head if Louis just wasn't in it at all. Most of the arcs in the black market were also too grim for my tastes. I would've preferred it if the murder mystery got more focus early on instead. The idea of a carnivore losing control and eating someone is so much more applicable to the the Legoshi/Haru relationship than any of that other stuff.

Overall: Beastars was an interesting story. There was clearly a lot of thought put into the characters, their dynamics, and the world they inhabited. It's always nice when a show gets me thinking as much as this one did. Sadly, the conclusion I ultimately reached was that a lot of it just wasn't for me. I enjoyed Legoshi, Haru, and especially their relationship. The story never gave them the focus they deserved, however, especially in the second season. I didn't like Louis, and I didn't like a few of the darker, action-oriented arcs the show focused on instead. Overall, my feelings were mixed, and this will probably end up ranking somewhere in my bottom half. I'm still glad Bane recommend it, though! This was an anime with a lot of heart and a lot of good ideas, it just came together in ways that didn't appeal to me specifically. I can easily see how other people would really like it. The unique Haru/Legoshi relationship also made watching it worthwhile regardless, so thank you again for recommending it, Bane!

Ha, yea I figured it wouldn't be a complete home run for you but glad you liked Legosi and Haru! Maybe when I get home from work I'll take a pic of my Beastars shelf, it's a series very near and dear to me even if the last arc or so of the manga is a bit more divisive for fans.

I was thinking about actually recommending Detective Conan, but there are 1000+ episodes and obviously you can't watch them all. I can make you try out a number of episodes though, I think the limit is around 50? Many episodes are filler/non-canon so you are better off skipping those too.

Another problem is it likely wouldn't be a 'complete experience', there is an overarching plot that is going on in the background, though every 1-3 episodes can be considered an individual story that can be enjoyed in isolation.

Finally I have no idea if you could find those old epiosdes from 20+ years ago that are also subbed, it's not exactly popular in the west.

I think I'd prefer not to watch just a chunk of episodes from a longer show. I'm sure there's a list of 50 that would be fun to watch on their own, but my concern is that I'd feel compelled to watch the watch the rest too. I might get to some of the super-long anime at some point, but I want to do it when I have time to really commit to them. I'll stick with Kaguya S2/S3, unless you think of anything else.

I also don't want to open a loophole where a One Piece fan could recommend some fifty episode arc, which might compel me to watch it all!
