In the early 2000s, they were only popular because that style of music (pop-punk) was all the rage with millenials. It was the flavor of the week, basically. All of their songs sound the exact same-- a whiny voice singing about being an outcast in society.

And with their recent comeback, it's even worse. These are 45+ year-old adults singing about the same things they sang about 20 years ago. Come on.

Their albums were good, not great. Pop-punk was very popular at the time, and their offensive lyrics were popular with kids (similar to Eminem).

Pop punk exists to expose people to punk music while being able to be played on the radio. It's like the punk litmus test.

Then you either go deeper into the punk rabbit hole into Fugazi and shit, or deeper into the pop punk rabbit hole and still end up with some good stuff like Mezingers and Captain, We're Sinking.

Or you can just like blink. That's fine too.

Yes they played the part of being the rebellious anti-pop culture band but they still had a few good songs I liked.

I really like their song Mutt. Think it still holds up

Most their songs are actually not about that

i mean tbf objectively taco bell is not good food, most action blockbusters are not good movies, steel reserve is not good beer

but plowin through a double steak quesadilla and a cheesy gordita crunch, washin it down with a couple tall boys of steel reserve while u watch some shitty action flick with the boys is a hella good time

same can be said of pop punk
