Then they should actively do things that can potentially change that. You know they could protest in ways that are damaging our history. They can organize groups to clean up places or plant trees, etc.

Cleaning up places and planting trees sound nice and wholesome, but they're similarly as useful I'm actually addressing the climate emergency as the vandalism of glass is. At least with the glass they get some kind of attention.

If they want to properly address climate change issues they would be crippling fossil fuel infrastructure, but then you lot would be moaning about terrorism so they do something other than that and still bitch

It's almost like abolishing capitalism is the only viable way to ensure the survival of humanity. Eradicate the system that provides the incentive to ignore long term survival vs short term profit.

Given how progressively terrible things are getting and guaranteed to get in the future, preventing an extinction event would just doom us to any other dystopian life.

If there were even the slightest hint of things perhaps being better in the future itd make sense to be so outspoken about preserving humanity. You seem to prioritize wanting to save the environment as if there's some far-fetched "good future" we're going to live in, when that's just not the case.

Put it this way in what way would damaging crucial infrastructure cause to help the situation? We are not at a point where we can entirely rely on reusable energy yet and to cripple infrastructure would more likely mean burn the thing down which spoilers, not a good thing to stop climate change by burning a building or faciliy.

Art vandalism for the sake of one's cause / beliefs has existed almost as long as art itself. One can attach whatever noble cause they want to their motive (racial justice, women's rights, nuclear disarmament, take your pick), and subsequently attempt to insulate themselves from criticism with all the baggage those issues carry ("Oh, what, so you care more about some old painting than racial justice / women's rights / our children growing up in a world without nuclear war?!"), but it still won't make art vandalism okay.

I don't care about the painting. I care that people think what these people did will in any way, shape, or form "save the human race".

Every avenue of protest to stop oil companies has failed, but people defend this thinking it actually means something when it doesn't.

There's good evidence that climate forcing stops in large part once Co2 levels stop rising. We could in fact save ourselves if we committed to doing so immediately, saying otherwise is the new fossil fuel apologia riding on the heels of "it's not us causing it" and, before that, "it's not happening".

But more than that - it represents a repudiation of civilisation and the achievements of humanity.
