Stanley got control of the Lexx, blew up an entire planet to avoid giving an access code, and celebrated. Dude's a psycho!

In my mind, this was just a show with lots of sex jokes, but the foundation has been pretty competent sci-fi dystopia stuff. I like how the plot so far is just this evil overlord dude with shadow powers saying "I don't believe in prophecies!" and then letting the hapless heroes go into his superpowered ship to prove the prophecy won't come true. Then, when it does come true, he removes his own brain and puts shadow powers in it -- one of the more poorly aged special effects. When they do wide shots of ships with city backdrops and planetary stuff, it has more of a (lower-budget) Blade Runner feel.

The robot didn't get many lines so far, though, so maybe this'll wind up like Newsradio where the early seasons are good and, as time goes on, characters become caricatures of themselves.

This shower scene is basically softcore porn, lmao. I did not expect that.

I wonder why they don't just kill the predecessors' brains if they're constantly plotting to destroy them. Or maybe have Kai memory-slurp their information. Perhaps all will be clear as I start the third episode.

The only reason I remember this show is because my parents loved sci-fi and would always encourage me to watch stuff like Babylon 5 and Stargate but this show was always disallowed

Malcolm came back as a possessed host for the Divine Shadow, but retained enough of his self to help Kai defeat it. And he did it in a funny way, using the pet cluster lizard to burrow into the bad guy's evil brain, sending the spaceship into the fractal core. It seems some of the DS exists within Kai somehow, though. Ominous.

Onto season two!

Kai accidentally shot his Scorpion spear into Stanley's heart as he was being roused from cryosleep. Now they're getting free medical service after blowing up the nearby moon to the hospital, lmao.

I definitely thought this weird plant chick with mimickry abilities was going to change into Zev to get 790 on her side, but I guess that didn't happen. She ate all these hayseed astronauts, too, lmao.

It seems so. The first season was made for tv movies then became standard 45 minute episodes for the other 3 seasons.

I don't mind the 90-minute "movies," but the shorter running time is easier for binging. I dunno how hard I'll go with my pacing, so having the longest stuff out of the way already is nice.

The idea of Stanley and Zev blowing up a planet to get free access to a brothel ship...amuses me.

But yeah, this episode hasn't had any sex either. It would've been funny to see Kai go down to the pleasure factory and see what kind of offers he was given by the machine. Poor 790 was offered blenders and toasters before this kinky dude gave him the business.

Okay, we just reached the funniest moment. In this episode, an abandoned TV world is explored, and while Zev's sex kitten antics win her high ratings, Stanley's muttering gets him low ratings repeatedly. Eventually he's cast as a diaper-wearing idiot on a children's show. As he fumes about how stupid it is, an android kid interrupts to say, "your bum stinks, Diapers!" Stanley then kicks his head all the way across the room. I've seen this 40 times already and still laugh. I have tears from laughing.

Now that there's a sudden problem (weird hicks were onboard the whole time and just showed up now) and no one woke up Kai, I'm starting to realize there's a certain "leave Kai to the third act to solve problem" trend going on. This weird dude wants to be captain all of a sudden, and Stanley, who was right by Kai's pod, probably could've woken him up then and there, but decided to go along with him (??????) for some reason. You'd think after awhile, Lexx would be asked to grow security cameras or a Kai cryopod remote or something.

I liked Season 1 Zev better.

S1 Zev was kind of sweet and S2 Zev is more mischievous.

Also, I realized that Lyekka (carnivorous plant) is still on the ship and ended up eating that good ol' boy from the backwater planet. I thought they got rid of her off screen at the end of her first episode (since they haven't mentioned her till now), but I guess she's been here the whole time. Guess that counts as a security system.......sort of.

Is this the show where the dude from AFI was an undead assassin?

Kai definitely looks like a pale edgelord, but he's actually got more morals than most of the other crewmembers, haha. He does like to say "the dead have no ________" a lot, though -- I suppose that's as close to a catchphrase as anyone has.

I'd like to track down some, too, to see if there are any hidden gems of Farscape quality. I wouldn't mind rewatching other 90s sci-fi stuff either, especially Sliders.

I still go back and watch the musical episode sometimes.

I almost always hate musical episodes, so I'll have to see if this one passes muster.

I daresay it's one of the best episodes of the series. Certainly of the second season. The first and third seasons were pretty different beasts altogether so it can be hard to quantify. Season four was a train wreck.

Right now, I'm up to the episode where Kai and Zev are exploring some wreck and 790 is trying to take a cyborg's well-toned body for his own, presumably to attract Zev to him. Dunno when the musical'll show up, but I'll keep an open mind. Sometimes they do have hidden gems (I always cite "Hate is the Star" from one of the Xena musicals as being catchier than it had any right to be).

This funky robot body used the phrase "sizzle in my pizzle". He...was maladjusted.

I vaguely remember a commercial from Sci-Fi while watching Stargate or Sliders back in the day that I think was from Lexx. Two chicks (w/ pink bob cuts? maybe they were androids??) were telling some dude to strip all the way down. Don't remember anything else -- don't even know if it's from Lexx -- but that commercial awoke something in me as a child.

Goddamn, these college kids Lexx picked up ended up messing with Kai's cryosleep programming and he basically turned into Freddy Kreuger and murdered them all in "fun" ways. It's nice to see Kai's actor letting loose for a change, though, so it was a little more enjoyable than its silly, slight nature suggested. It really hammers home the point that the crew should carry some kind of weapon so every little thing that goes wrong doesn't cause a life-or-death crisis, lol.

As for the pink-haired commercial stuff, I have no idea. Never watched Stargate, so I wouldn't catch those references.

So the back story was the planet was created as a "perfect" paradise without women to see how society would be without the competition of sexual reproduction. In the end, the head monk decided to blow up the planet -- using some silo that connected to the earth's core (!!!) -- rather than allow a woman to taint it. Zev got laid, though, and it only took 15 episodes, so that was surprising.
